Will Cotton come out being religious? Isn't part of this process acknowledgment of belief in a higher power?

It's more spiritual than religious, which sounds cliche, I know. Most programs emphasize the importance of finding a higher power, but they have no affiliation with any religion. I know plenty of atheists in recovery and I know Christians, too. The basic premise of having a higher power is that we are acknowledging that we have no power over our addiction and that our lives have become unmanageable and that we can be restored to sanity.

Just throwing this out there, but for $2500 I can lock you in a room upstairs for a month. Turn the thermostat up so you sweat it out. Feed you, somewhat decent meals. And provide you with one end of a piece of string with a paper cup attached to it. The other end of that string will hang next to my PlayStation so I can talk to you while I’m gaming between the hours of 6 and 8 pm.

The upstairs is high enough that it will hurt if you try to jump out of the window, but it probably won’t kill you. And if you did try to escape, there are a few obstacles to deal with after the fall.

This could work. Plus I could have my one legged daddy come spend quality time with you during the day while I’m at work. He has several stories that he tells repeatedly.

No pressure….

If he doesn’t take you up on this, I might be interested. I don’t need to sweat anything out, though.

Made it through day one. Doc says the withdrawals are pretty mild compared to some people he has seen so I feel fortunate so far. I hope to get out tomorrow and head to rehab.

My first counseling job was in a detox at a residential rehab. I've seen guys who couldn't even walk for several days and couldn't hold anything down. Young guys sometimes. It can be a very challenging detox. We would step them down on valium to help. We would usually keep guys who were detoxing from alcohol for 5 days before moving them to residential. I'm glad your symptoms have been mild.

Bad news from the doc today. I have a fatty liver, really low blood count, I’m anemic. So I to stay in the us place at least two more days. But I did every but if it to my self. Just glad they caught the liver when they did or it would have turned into cirrhosis that would have probably killed me.

Fatty liver is a silent killer of a lot of folks. I am happy they found it, so they can do something about for you buddy.
