The story when he was in Philly was that he was basically autistic and had trouble dealing with just about anybody. It's one of the reasons that Lurie said he was looking for a coach with emotional intelligence after he fired Kelly and a big reason they hired Pederson, who is the polar opposite personality from Kelly.

There's being financially responsible, and then there's being a cheapass.

C'mon, dude. Take the padlock off your wallet and get your folks a decent place.

I don't know the backstory about Hurts' family but I know there are a lot of instances where family members of players don't want to leave the neighborhood or home that they've lived in practically their entire life. They'll opt for some remodeling or whatever but they don't want to leave behind that community that they've built a strong connection with.

From a sociological perspective, this is an issue.

That's exactly what happened with a buddy of mine (Ronnie Price) who played in the NBA for like 12 or 13 years -- his parents didn't want to leave their house so they still live 2 houses over from my parents.

In fact, his parents and mine are the longest tenured residents on the block.

He's offered to buy them a house several times, especially after the hurricane Harvey flood of 2016 and the freeze of early 2021, (both which caused major repairs needing to be done) but they turned him down every time.

They said they bought that house with the own hard earned money and that's where they want to stay.

So yeah, maybe that's what happened here with Jalen Hurts?

I'd guess almost all of us.

I don't know about the Houston area but in the northeast $200k gets you either a shack or a bad neighborhood.
We're still a lot cheaper than most, but you need to be on the higher side of 200K to get a decent home in a decent suburban neighborhood now, and that's the minimum for such a home now.

The first 2 homes that I bought were 162K in 2009 and then 220K in 2012. Those same homes today go for 315K and 400K.

So yeah, times have definitely changed.
