But Smith and Martin are guards...

Has he worked at C at all? I hadn't heard that, but maybe he has?

They wouldn't do this just because they think Martin is about done, would they?
I mean you need a backup interior guy if Bass is the center. And a year from now he replaces Martin.

Beebe is a better left than right guard.

Maybe this is the plan later when Tyler Smith goes to LT, Beebe to LG and Guyton replaces Steele.

So. Guyton/Beebe or Barton.

Which would you rather have?

Martin has already talked about retiring.
One of the shows today said they thought this would be Martin's last year.

I still wonder if they think Beebe could snap. Sturm on the Ticket is almost acting like that, but I never heard that before.

ESPN is saying he will move to center.

Beebe is a good value at this point in the draft. He'll likely move to center and compete for the starting job, but he can provide quality all along the offensive line. -- Muench

Was just reading that Beebe also played some RT in college. Maybe he's a hedge for Steele if he doesn't round back into form? Or if he does, a replacement for Martin when he hangs them up. And in the mean time... A very nice backup.

A proactive pick instead of a reactive one. Nothing to hate about that.
something we all claim the cowboys never do. I love it.
