Don't agree with this, David Moore acted like they really liked Frazier, maybe closer than people think to JPJ.

That would mean Broaddus is wrong, which practically confirms it.
I think they do really like Frazier. But I also think the Cowboys hone in on stuff. So they had 1 O-lineman to draft in the first 3 rounds. We took one. So I don't see them double dipping.

But Frazier would be too good to pass up in my opinion. Yes a first and second round pick on the O-line would be excessive. But I think hypothetically if Frazier is there in the second and you take him than suddenly you don't have to worry about O-line for a long time. You have Tyler Guyton, Tyler Smith, Frazier and Bass to replace Martin a year from now. You can basically not worry about it again any time soon.
But the way the Cowboys view things I feel like it's more of a check list. Next up is RB and LBer. I'd be surprised if our next two picks aren't those exact positions. The wild card is having the extra third now. That's where they have gotten real weird in the past. Like they have an unexpected pick, weren't prepared with a guy, and then suddenly throw random shit at the board.

I also think Corely is in the mix tonight. If we take a WR that's the guy I think we may draft. Even though they have always seemed to prefer the guys who are over 6 foot. Again, I don't think we are prepared for the concept of a better player falling. Mitchell or Coleman though could solve our WR position for a long time. Corely however, he is Debo part deux in their minds.

I really hated passing on Barton. I mean really hated it at the time. Calmed down and saw sense eventually. I guess I figure it's better to try and play with Hoffman at center then Chuma at LT.

Really liked Barton, though.
I think the importance of center gets over looked in the NFL. I really like Barton too. Having a badass in the middle with Tyler Smith to the left and Zach Martin to the right could actually create something special up the middle. I really like JPJ and Frazier though. So I wasn't heart broken over Barton. But the problem is now that we took an O-lineman, I'm worried the Cowboys have sort of crossed that off their list until day three.

@boozeman Thoughts on passing on Barton who I know you thought would be gone vs taking Guyton, who you weren't high on, plus third round pick.

I notice your thoughts not here or I missed them. :lol
Barton would have been great, but then no extra third.

That’s what my aunt told my younger brother when he found out she took me to a WWF show and not him because he was “too young”.

That show was great.

But that high 3rd is a game changer.

@Cowboysrock55 Totally agree on the "check list" theory. Which sucks. Maybe they'll get it right this year and make more of a Diggs than a Bossman pick in the second, though.

I'll also tell myself that Bass practiced at C the last third of the year. I have a lot more faith in him learning the position than Mr Social Media Hoffman.

I think Bass is a badass. And maybe I'm totally wrong but that guy has looked really good every time I have seen him. Powerful and nasty dude with really good size who doesn't give up any ground. I just have no idea if he can play center. I'm sure he could make all the blocks at center. But snapping well and getting back to block after is I think taken for granted, until you have some shitty snaps.

Tiny glimpse here, but iso on him and watch how he comes off the ball and has the agility to make the catch on not the best throw.

Yes, but you don't like the player taken.

Would you rather Barton at 24 whom you loved, or Guyton whom you think is a piece of dogshit and that extra third?

I don’t think he is a complete piece of shit, but I think he will struggle moving sides. I liked Barton a lot but I am not in mourning.

If we had straight up taken Guyton over Barton I would've been annoyed, not distraught but annoyed. The fact that we got a top 10 pick in the 3rd plus Guyton makes me indifferent between the two options (Barton at 24 vs. Guyton at 29 and the 3rd).

But don't you guys think that if this works out -- big if, granted -- Guyton has a bigger upside? I mean considering the position is more valuable. I've been a move-Tyler Smith-to-LT guy, but I do think his ceiling (and floor) at G is higher.

Now I admit that Guyton has a much lower floor than Barton, though. Just saying that if he can convert that talent to production, this could work out the best.

Yeah I liked Barton more, mostly because Barton is all there right now. He has the technique, skills and everything to be a great starting center. Guyton has the talent to be a high end starting LT but he needs work. And anytime a guy needs work, it's an unknown. I value LT more than center but not enough to make up that difference. Now you throw in a highish third and that makes all the difference to me.

This is a great draft in the middle rounds. And having that extra pick makes a big difference. Now we just need to nail the pick.
