I'm reading you correctly now. They were aggressive with finding an elite QB.
We don't have to tank, per se, that's just one way to get into position.
I think Dallas will take a QB this year. But if you're expecting a first round pick that's highly unlikely. I do think we take another Dak like shot at the position. But maybe all that ever gets you is another Dak like few years on a cheap deal but a QB who isn't the level of a Mahomes type. It's not easy to find a physical freak at QB in the middle rounds. Will Levis and Anthony Richardson were not great college QBs. Yet both will probably go in the first round because they have elite physical tools to work with. Those guys just aren't sitting around in the fourth round. And yet they are massive risks in the first round.I'm reading you correctly now.
You would have to hope that they get it right. Right now they don't have a stellar resume choosing qbs. It's just luck that we even have Dak.
The hillbillies love them some Dak, though. I just can't see them doing anything until it's 3 or 4 years past evident of needing a change.
Yeah they will but not in the way Smitty thinks we should. Most likely they will let Jerry take Duggan a round earlyI think Dallas will take a QB this year. But if you're expecting a first round pick that's highly unlikely. I do think we take another Dak like shot at the position.
Another Dak? I thought the point was to get better?I do think we take another Dak like shot at the position.
I mean I don't say that in terms of what the QB will become. Just the round in which they are taken. Or the area of the draft.Another Dak? I thought the point was to get better?
Reminiscent of the Jeremy Shockey gif. But somehow more douchey
Brady was a unicorn. With the exception of Russell Wilson, the vast majority of starting SB QBs were taken in the first two rounds. That's why I'm not enthused by taking another Dak in rounds 3, 4 or 5. You're basically trying to win the lottery at that point.I mean I don't say that in terms of what the QB will become. But yeah the idea would be to get better not stay the same. Although if the QB was earning Hurts type money and playing like Dak, that may justify it. I guess you could hope you're getting a young Russell Wilson if that makes you feel any better. But most top end QBs are taken in the first. We won't do that unless the cupboard is absolutely bare at QB. Meanining Dak is gone and whoever we picked to replace him blows.
I really hope they fall apart next year. I can't imagine how that guy would handle any adversity. Just such a dork.Reminiscent of the Jeremy Shockey gif. But somehow more douchey
Just like any bully. Cocky and arrogant when everything goes their way but fall apart when someone punches them in the face for real.I really hope they fall apart next year. I can't imagine how that guy would handle any adversity. Just such a dork.
the SB loser usually falls on tough times, but Cincy broke the streak this year, so who knowsI really hope they fall apart next year. I can't imagine how that guy would handle any adversity. Just such a dork.
I don't even know if I would include second round in that discussion. I don't view Hurts as anything but a Dak type who literally had the perfect surrounding cast this year. Throw Brady out because he really is an outlier. The best NFL QBs outside of the first round right now are Dak, Cousins, Geno Smith, Jalen Hurts, Russell Wilson, Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo.Brady was a unicorn. I was thinking of Hurts, Brees and Garoppolo.I don't even know if I would include second round in that discussion.
Burrow is a cool cat at QB. And even their team struggled some this year before getting their shit together. Hurts just isn't that type of QB. People bitch that Dak needs so much talent around him. But Hurts had perfect talent around him. I mean was there any aspect of their offense where you think they lacked talent? TE, WR, O-line were basically all elite type levels. I'll leave off RB, even though they had a RB perform at an elite level. I just think some of that was manufactured (Like it is with most RBs)the SB loser usually falls on tough times, but Cincy broke the streak this year, so who knows
I'm not ready to jump the shark on Hurts. Brees is a good example. But he only made it to the second because of limited height. The NFL doesn't care about that anymore. If he was in this years draft he would be a first round pick. The NFL just changed at the right time for him to fall to the second round.I was thinking of Hurts and Brees.
Even Brees was the very first pick of the 2nd round, wasn’t he?The second round isn't a real place to find franchise QB's, the vast majority go in the first and everything else is a crap shoot.
Hurts isn't a franchise QB and more or less landed at the right place at the right time, same goes for Garoppolo. Brees is the only legit example from the 2nd in recent history.
What we’re those things?Yeah, but he had a couple of really bad things he needed coached out of him.
He abandoned clean pockets a LOT in college. It would confuse his OL because they didn't know where he was. That was the biggest issue that had to be corrected. What we’re those things?
