I know most famous people deal with this but my dad was one of those people that just had to interrupt Nolans dinner at a restaurant to say hello. Whenever Nolan pitched we would watch. Every game. You just never knew when it was going to be a special one. I know all the records are amazing but his longevity is what amazes me. Got better as he got older and no TJ surgeries. Mind blowing.

Loved the documentary. I think my favorite part was when they were telling the story of the last no hitter and Nolan tells the offense just to get him 1. Thats all he would need.

The Nolan Ryan documentary on Netflix is so well done.

I actually got emotional watching it a few times. I loved Nolan as a kid and being as big of a fan as I was, I still didn’t grasp how great he was until watching this doc.
I was a big Nolan fan as well, gonna have to check that out.

Well, that was a letdown.
There's local rumors going that his wife wants to come back to Houston but I don't think the Astros necessarily want him to.

Jeremy Pena is a rookie SS making far less money and practically matching his offensive production.

His value probably dropped by 150 million from last year to this year so this is one of those betting on yourself situations that didn't work out.

Hard to match those numbers when you don't know what's coming.

What a fucking game. 17 innings with no runs. Incredible.

It's just too bad the Astros won.

You’re a Phillies fan?

How often do you encounter the situation when you’re celebrating with Phillies fans and then it’s revealed you’re also a Cowboys fan and they are Eagles fans?

How often do you meet other combo’d Phillies/Cowboys fans?

I mean, eagles fan get personally offended if you're not an eagles fan regardless of who you root for. My wife is a Steelers fan and has gotten shit over it.

But they reserve a special place in hell for Cowboys fans. You might as well have told them you teabagged their grandmother because you'll get the same reaction.

There are a lot of fans in the area that root for all 4 major local teams but are true diehards of only one of them. So I will often differentiate between eagles fans and the rest because for example if you tell a Sixers fan you like the Celtics or Lakers or whatever it'll usually be fine. If you tell a Phillies fan you like the Mets or Braves it'll usually be fine. If you tell a diehard Phillies fan who "likes" the eagles that you like the Cowboys in football it'll usually be fine believe it or not. But if you tell a diehard eagles fan who "likes" the Phillies that you are a Cowboys fan, you'd think you told him that you like to torture puppies.

Not that much different from Houston and how they view the Cowboys.

The difference is, football reigns supreme here by a very wide margin so I personally don't know a single diehard Rockets fan.

There are some diehard Astros fans, though. But the vast majority of sports fans in this city are Texans fans.

They don't make much noise these days as the Texans have been awful for the last few years, but when they were consistently in the playoffs, man their Cowboys hate comes out even when it's not provoked.

I was a diehard Rockets fan when I had interest in the NBA.

I'm not and never have lived in or around Houston, though.
