This is what pisses me off.

A day after his HC was like, I don't want to talk about who the starter is, Jerry is like, yeah he's the starter and here's my dissertation on what I think about it.

I don't know if that's being a great leader just to automatically prop anyone and everyone up.

You don't have to be critical necessarily, but there's nothing wrong with applying a little pressure like, "Obviously he's in a new role and he's going to need to step up."

I'm not sure that "He's great, we're great, everything's great" is the right vibe for where the offense is at.

I mean he is the starter, Dak can't control that but I guess he could go the Aaron Rodgers route too. Not sure that will work to motivate his receivers though.

Okay, I listened to Jerry's 105.3 interview this morning and I'm about to buy the Sean Payton angle. Jerry actually went on and on about how much value they have this year, how the talent per dollar is the best it's been in years, etc.

And when they asked him about all the unspent money, he said again that you will have that available next year and this is all part of planning for the future.

Even for a snake oil con man like Jerry, that's an incredibly flimsy sales job for this year. He has to know nobody cares about his "value" nonsense.

The entire front office coddles players all the time, it'd be nice if one of the team leaders, particularly the QB, put even the slightest amount of pressure out there.

I think it's a big stretch for you to categorize what I said as the Aaron Rodgers route just because it acknowledges reality and is letting a player know that there are different expectations on him now. But even if it is, Rodgers has certainly been really successful and there are worse guys you could emulate.

Different situation than what you are talking about with team leader/QB, but it reminded that, IIRC, Robert Quinn made comments insinuating the locker room atmosphere is more about being a self-congratulating celebrity than winning.
