You do realize no other country in the world, not even the shithole countries like mine, requires this type of prison like conditions in their schools. You don't think there's something inherently wrong with that?

And yet everyone is coming here not there

Well it sure as fuck isn’t because criminals in Mexico don’t have guns.

Give me a fucking break.

If being cooped up due to COVID becomes an excuse to go shoot up a bunch of defenseless kids, fuck all that.

Lookit, I get it. The whole pandemic was so so draining.

But get the fuck out of here in that it is a reason why anyone does something like this.

For ordinary people, it was a minor inconvenience but for some one with behavioral and/or mental issues, it could have been another thing entirely. Suicides, domestic violence, amber alerts, and substance abuse were all up during the lockdown.

Yeah, him comparing Mexico to the USA is actually really amusing considering the cartels (with a shit ton of guns) run that country.

Of course there’s something inherently wrong with having to lock down schools. It’s the crazy assholes in this country with guns.

The problem is that taking away all the guns isn’t a solution.

I would say I would be ok with listening to a constitutional amendment that set the right to bear arms to 22 or something, other than for those with military service.

But good luck getting it ratified.

Even if you could ensure to me that every single person in this country could never own a gun again, I would still not support repealing the 2nd amendment. Does no one remember what happened in Australia during Covid?

There also is no viable way to take away 500mil guns. People point to Australia but they only took in 670k guns

Funny how that works, we have a shit ton of criminals with a shit ton of guns, yet only one school shooting in our history...
Your criminals also have a shit ton of guns for sure, so I'm guessing criminals having guns has little to nothing to do with school shootings.

Yet I never compared Mexico to the USA, I compared it to the rest of the World and how even in countries you look down on and consider shitholes, school shootings rarely if at all happened.

I'm sure that will bring solace to the parents who lost their innocent children seeing how those two things are so closely related in this competition you've created.

I am not sure "arming teachers," will help if teachers do not want the responsibility but I think if they do want to carry they should be allowed to. Secondly, I do think having an armed guard or guards would certainly help and would absolutely be a selling point for me if I chose to put my child in a private school.

But I think a better question is how these people are accessing school grounds. Perhaps schools need to have entrances and exits that are controlled by gatekeepers. This would be a societal shift as to how students enter and exit school, but that's probably a way easier transition than trying to force through policy that is literally enshrined in a Constitutional amendment.

People can bemoan all they want how "Americans love their guns more than they love these victims," but (a) it's probably partially both true AND justifiable (ie, guns save many lives as well), and (b) until we move off our positions on ideological impasses then both sides are equally to blame. The left loves to spend money. They can't come up with a funding solution to do something about this? They have both houses of congress and the Presidency. Where are their answers besides trying to pass a law that is, rightly or wrongly, obviously on the basis of the recent Heller decision, completely unconstitutional?

My sister said she would. She teaches high school and she is proficient with handguns.
