Pat Dennis? Total blank.
Corner with good size who played pretty good football for us the final month of the 2001 season.

He looked like he might be a Ryan McNeil type and instead he just disappeared into oblivion.

Same with Hawthorne. He was a small guy, but he was a CB who showed early promise and always seemed to be around the ball and make plays.... Until one day he just didn't anymore.

There were quite a few guys like that during the three 5-11 seasons.

Maybe it was being too big of a homer or it was just being desperate for them to be good again.....or maybe both?

But I look back at how optimistic I was about the team and the talent and I don't even recognize myself.

:lol

Yeah we were just loaded with asshole's who thought they were stars and Bill cleaned house because of the toxic locker room.
Bill literally draped his uni across a trash can in the locker room, daring anyone to defend him.

Point was Ross was physically talented, but completely undisciplined. Parcells had to cut ties so he could connect with the remaining physically talented folks on the roster who still had a chance

I was at the 2003 camp, and paid close attention to the corners since that's what I was in my tiny little football life. Newman was by far the best athlete and player right away, but Ross had ability and would do things like bait QBs and then make up the difference for the pick. Not that he did anything obviously that wrong, but he gave off that gambler/knucklehead vibe. I'm sure they knew he was more talented than Edwards, but not dependable.

I do remember he returned a kickoff for a TD though, which was pretty cool.

Ross had balls and technique, but he was a knucklehead.

Waste of a 3rd round pick

Antonio Bryant went on to have a productive season or two though.
Until he basically attacked Parcells in the locker room.

Unlimited potential... unrealized.

Typical Jerry Jones "gamble" from the post Jimmy decade. Note to Jerry: There was a reason everyone else FUCKING PASSED

And no matter what you think YOU and the "Cowboy mystique" were NEVER going to transform Alonzo Spellman, Demetrius Underwood, Greg Hardy, Ross, Dirty Bird, Pacman, Tank, and all these other psychos/misfits into real, contributing, hard working NFL players that made a difference.

That was Jimmy's game-- and you, motherfucker, are no Jimmy

Derek Ross actually had the talent to be a good NFL CB, so I don't really put him in the same category as those other guys.

The only similarities he shares with those other guys I mentioned is that his time was short-lived, but that was because he was a moron.

While any of 500 coaches could have led that team to a Super Bowl, none of them could've shaped the roster the way Jimmy did.

We didn't realize that at the time, coming off the high of 3 SB wins.

Definitely got sucked by the "GM".

They turned the one strength of our offense into one of the weakest positions on the team and probably THE weakest. When you've got a mediocre Oline, a broken down Zeke and no WRs. This offense could go from one of the best in the rankings to one of the worst.
You mean kind of like what Tony Romo went through ??? Ehhhh atleast Dak has a better defense in front him

I can’t help but agree.. this team went from a few o-lineman and a 1 more playmaker on defense … to a complete shitshow… we did nothing to improve in this offseason .. we actually took 2 steps back …these asshats mismanage money .. have no idea of the value of good players .. I mean ayyyyy we drafted Micah Parsons..😮😮😮😮😮 let’s ride that for the next 5 years … like seriously!!! You step in pure shit getting this guy and you want some fuckin cookie for it???? .. mark my words we win NOTHING until Jerry dies and the seed gets Alzheimer’s….,
