It makes you wonder what those two hillbillies were up to that they couldn't take time out of their day to speak with the agent.

I will continue to pray that the jet goes down that is taking that entire family to the next reunion.

Like Stevie-Boy is not some sort of pro.
He's family and nothing more, but he does have chemical-engineering degree.

That helps make a football team.

And then he's stuffed into being the team's CPA.

LOL
It really is disgusting in a way.

Stephen Jones had previously told Schaffer that any contract offered to Gregory would contain standard forfeiture language.

So much for the 'They threw shit in at the last minute' angle.

Yeah so the Cowboys are trash for that. I'm sorry but doing it over a fine is ridiculous and the Cowboys half assed this negotiation and delegated it some random dude.
Sometimes we come out ahead in spite of ourselves.

This guy will explode in a game or two and then disappear as always

Stephen seems extremely petty and arrogant, not a great combination.
Like how does a call not get put in to Jerry saying, hey they don't like this language, what should we do? Maybe this all works out and Gregory smokes away his career in Denver but it still seems extremely dumb to me.

Here's how it's looking like things shook out....

Gregory basically really wanted to go to Denver so it didn't take much to get him to drop Dallas' offer.....which sucks because the team stood by him through so much.

But a halfway competent GM doesn't allow his departure to ever come into play. Not only has Stephen Jones proven himself to be incompetent as a contract negotiator, what's worse is that now it appears he lacks the charisma and professionalism required by someone in that position.

How the hell can you be the organization's primary personnel negotiator but you don't even take the time to sit down and/or have a direct conversation with neither the player nor his agent?!

I mean, I'm just shocked here at the stuff that's coming out.

No wonder this asshole is so turned off at the idea of going after outside talent -- he probably doesn't want to have to deal with the actual recruiting and negotiating part of that process which is basically THE most important piece!

I always knew we were in deep shit with this family running the Cowboys, but things are actually worse than I realized.

Boys, we're fucked.

Funny thing is, the old man is a pro when it comes to charming people. He just cant evaluate talent at all.

therein lies the problem, SJ can't charm, can't evaluate talent and obviously doesn't handle the contracts...
Exactly what is his function? What does he add to the equation?

Right, and that's what I was referring to yesterday when I said this guy is actually worse than his father when we all thought it would be the opposite.

Jerry at least gave us reasons to look forward to FA and we scored a number of FA splashes during his time as the GM -- we just never did much with it because he was giving all of these fancy weapons to average or below average coaches.

But the days of landing the occasional Rocket Ismail, La'Roi Glover, Kevin Hardy, Ken Hamlin, Terrell Owens, and Brandon Carr, etc....

Those days are over.

And now we have to deal with a moron who gives his own players terrible contracts, then bitches about said terrible contracts, uses them as excuses as to why we can't be players in FA, cuts player who he gave bad contract to, then procedes to give out another bad contract, and the cycle continues.

This is so frustrating.

Instead of staying on a winning team with Lawrence and Parsons? Is the Wilson factor that strong?
I mean, you have to use the term winning organization loosely.

Yeah, they're a playoff team but we always have more hurdles to navigate past than 90% of the other organizations due to how the Jones' choose run their operations.

It's no coincidence that every player that leaves here, that then goes on to join a successful organization, always makes remarks about how different the culture on their new team is in regards to the actual football side of things from what it is in Dallas.

I've said this many times before, but seriously.... If you're not blinded by the glitz and the glamor, and you have some idea of how well run organizations are supposed to look like, then why would you sign with Dallas if you're primary desire is to win big?
