Yeah, in another post I mentioned the Texas also has risk of having taken on a player in decline, partly because of his build. I think hitting in Arlington is really going to give his power numbers a boost though and I don't think his decline is necessarily locked into a steep downward slope. I have a bit more confidence in him having a few more highly productive years. .280/35/110 is very reasonable, IMO. He doesn't miss games either. Kinsler has missed large chunks of time in different seasons and he's a corner infielder so age/decline is a bigger deal defensively than it is for a corner infielder like Prince.

I do like the deal for both teams, especially when all the other moving parts are considered. I like it more for Texas though because they got a much needed power bat and they need to try and win now. Fielder will really decline at some point but he has the chance to make a bigger impact than Kinsler.
I agree.

Mets sign Chris Young, which could be a good low cost signing. Waiting to see what happens to Ike...I think any time we want we could flip him to Tampa for Joyce. Still need lots of help, but good to see some stuff is happening.

@Ken_Rosenthal: #Angels getting Salas along with Freese from #STLCards. Freese and Salas for Bourjos and Grichuk.

Weird to think Freese is gone...he seemed set up to be the face of the Cards.

Apparently his friends are saying the hometown kid pressure has gotten to him a lot and he welcomes the change.

The family that I have up there and are Cards fans were tiring of him.

Something like 5 for 80 mil. Lots of money for a 30 year old catcher.

Some reports are saying 90 now. I mean it's not mu money, so I don't care, but I hate giving big money to catchers that age.

Looks like 5 for 85. Mauer is 31 and has 5 years left at 115. Yanks needed a catcher. Yanks needed a LH power bat. He's in the AL now so he can DH more now and at end of deal.

Peralta is close with the Cards...Mets are going to have to trade for a SS. Trade D'Arnaud if we have to...Plawecki looks legit coming up.

Interested to see what the Rangers do at Catcher. I still cant believe its going to be Soto. I guess its just journeymen until Alfaro is ready.

That makes sense to me. When is Alfaro's ETA at the Majors? I know he's one of their top prospects and I saw him play in some of the AZ Fall League games. He looks pretty legit. Soto isn't a terrible placeholder for the time being.

Ive been reading 2 more years. He just has half a season of AA ball so far. I know Pudge has been working with him so that makes me happy.

I don't mind Soto except for his bat.
