I think we all feel that way but regardless of Jones ineptness as a GM the team is still deserving of fan support. If someone cannot separate this in their mind then they can take an all or nothing position but it is narrow for them to think everyone should take the same stance.
In this case you are rooting for the team to win in spite of him. I think everyone does that, whether they admit it or not.

Aside from angry comments from iamtdg, I don't think most actively root for the team to bottom out.

I don't. But let's just say if it did, I would not be busted up about it because there might be some "hope" (real, not Jerry fabricated) for change and improvement.

Sturm is right in regards to the unrealistic expectations of the fanbase but my problem is not the fact that we are simply mediocre, it's that the organization (Jerry) operates with an inherent disadvantage and could do better but actively chooses not to due to his ego.
Agreed. This is one of the most critical fanbases around. It's part of the "whine and cheese" crown thing too. If they aren't winning, Cowboys fans get disgusted far more easily than other fanbases. They don't show up and get excited unless it's a Super Bowl contender.

Also one of the reasons why a couple of 8-8 seasons means we have "one of the worst coaches in football" instead of a merely average coach that the record indicates.

That being said, we are the Cowboys, and we should expect more, and if the coach can't do better than that, he should be replaced. Jerry Jones can easily do better with his resources and doesn't.

The criticism is a direct backlash to the hype.

If Jones wasn't touting this team as a Super Bowl contender each year when we clearly are not, you'd see a lower expectation...maybe even apathy.

We all support the team. However, we've lost any hope that the Cowboys can win in spite of Jerruh.

What exacerbates my Jerruh-hate his exploitation of the fanbase loyalty. His message of 'come support America's team' is a deceitful way of extorting your money. You think your dollars spent support winning -- Jerruh collects your dollars for himself, not winning.

He's so goddamn lucky he bought 'America's Team' and not the San Diego Chargers (true story), because of the endless fanbase volume. While the Chargers have multiple home game blackouts, the Cowboys are topping the Forbes' list.

I'm at a point of desperation I never thought I could reach. There's more hope in watching disastrous loss after loss instead winning in spite of Jerruh.

I choose for my sister to get rid of the abusive boyfriend instead of hoping she thrives with him.

You don't get it either. My original premise on another thread was that regardless of Jones ineptness the fans will still support the team. Reason is because they are fans in spite of Jones and will continue to support the team. This article essentiAlly says the same thing and I believe it is correct. It has nothing to do with being happy about mediarcoty.

I am the epitome of a fan in spite of Jones. And I know the only way for my team to succeed is to fail first. It's the only way it's going to happen. 17 years have proven this over and over and over again.

It is easy to say you're going to root for the Cowboys to lose, I've did it myself.

But on game day, it just doesn't happen.

I don't know how I will feel on Sunday, but right now I hope they get slaughtered. I'm still pissed off from Jerry's comments.

There is some truth to that, but at the same time, I don't go into games hoping for wins anymore either.

Like Booze said, even for those of us who are pessimistic, there is a homer inside of us all. The problem for me is that, like Phil alluded to, I can't get excited over hoping the Cowboys somehow win in spite of what's going on.

It's already ingrained in my brain that this team isn't winning anything soon and isn't a winner, so it's hard for me to get excited going into a game when I know that even a positive result isn't going to amount to much in the end.

No, it's just dumb.

Boberts pretty much summed up his point in the article which makes no sense.

He's basically telling you it's ok but it's not ok at the same time.

I don't actively root for them to lose but I do find great humor when they bumble around like idiots. I can best sum up my emotions as equal parts seething hatred for Jerry, apathy and general bemusement/amusement.

Um, yes?

Why would you think something you disagree with is quality work?
Because it's no different than what people make fun of hostile for. (one of the reasons :art ) Bash the evil media until it supports something he agrees with. Then use them to "prove" his point. Equally retarded.

Hey, Cleveland Browns fans, be happy --- you've got 8 League Championships!!!
Exactly.

I should accept the shitfest of the last 18 years because we won in 1995?

GTFO.

Every year is a vacuum unto itself.
