Still not sure what you're getting at. Surely you aren't saying you move on from some of the best players on your team, the Daks and Coopers and Gallups and Martins, because the team hasn't gone farther in the playoffs?
Well, going back to what Geng and I were debating earlier, I'm just saying I don't know that "making the playoffs," or "getting to the divisional round," is good enough.

And if this team was to lose in that round again this year, that would be the third time the Dak/Elliott/Smith/Martin/Collins/D-Law/Gregory/Anthony Brown core lost in that round, and the second time for another group of players like Cooper, Gallup, Schultz, Jarwin, etc. It's a big portion of our team, especially on offense. I would guess it's way higher a percentage of return on offense than compared to standard around the league.

My argument here is that for these guys in key roles, it's not "progress," for them. This is who they have been - many of them since 2016, others since 2018, but basically this cast has not been able to elevate their peers to get past that playoff peak, they haven't even been able to reach the divisional round in back to back years.

I'm not saying that we should move on from any specific player, but I am saying that if this team, with this improved coaching staff, was to lose in the divisional round or earlier, some painful decisions probably SHOULD be made rather than just keeping who we can keep in free agency and drafting again with our picks and then running everything else back. Like, we should be looking to shake things up a tad, would be my recommendation. Maybe not full scale rebuild but I'd certainly be seeing which of my veterans could fetch picks in return.

I mean, what if someone gave you a first and third for Zach Martin? I would hate losing him, but maybe that cap space lets you re-sign Gallup who you'd otherwise have to let walk, and then you have two more prime draft picks. I'm just spitballing, not saying that's what we SHOULD do. Maybe having this much money tied up in the OL has hurt us. Maybe we need to free up money from D-Law to re-sign Gregory. I dunno.

It's important to remind ourselves that our only losses this year are to last year's two Super Bowl teams (on the road), by relatively thin margins, along with the complete write-off Broncos game.

The only somewhat concerning thing is that the Broncos/Chiefs game came 2 weeks apart, so it's reasonable to start worrying that it's a pattern, but overall I think people just need to chill.
Right, but if the Cowboys are going to be a team that belongs in that group (which is what we all hope), then they have to prove that they belong.

And that performance yesterday suggests that they do not.

But there's 7 games left and plenty of time to right some wrongs and show what they really are.

Only concern I have is how they adjust to aggressive defenses now that its been exposed by two different teams. Going to have to address that because it will be a pattern going forward.

Yep. That small handful of good players still around are still around for a reason. They're good players. They haven't been the ones holding us back. It's been the bulk of the roster that have turned over. We'll have to see how well it works out.

What's up with them creating a penalty out of nowhere? Since when can they just add a penalty to a play after the play is over? That was bullshit.

It's called opening Pandora's Box, but of course they won't use it to fix their half-assed ball spots 12 times a game.

Jalen Hurts hasn't thrown for over 200 yards in like a month, eventually their defense is going to stop scoring TD's and they're going to lose a game or two. They aren't good and neither are the Giants or Skins.

We'll likely have the division officially clinched in about a month.

Funny, they are NFL radio right now saying the face mask came from replay officials in New York. Which they aren't allowed to do. Shocked, just shocked (not really that the league did something to screw us)

Right?! I was laughing when that happened. Ridiculous.
Several KC PI non calls as well. Terrible officiating yet again.

For some reason New York didn't radio in to correct those calls. That's beyond fishy to me. You can't correct one non reviewable but not others. Just tells you there is a lot more going on with officials than the NFL cares to let you know. And no I don't anticipate they will come out and admit any of it but Blandino on the radio said he was absolutely certain the face mask came down from New York.

Why couldn't the league call in with replay on that obvious PI on Gallup at the goal line?

The league offices have an active bias against the Cowboys.

It may be unspoken but it's definitely conscious within a few people in control there.

It’s clear and blatant violation.
