Did I already say it? Probably. But I could swear McCarthy used that formation in GB with some of the oversized fullbacks he had.

Going back and watching the Hulk plays.

Good God we have not seen creativity like this in a long long time.
Watching Moore's PC it sounded like McCarthy used similar formations in GB and they just tweaked it to get our extra OL on the field.

They never had formations with OL in the backfield.

Trust me, it would have been a big deal.

So he had guys like John Kuhn and whatever.

Not the same thing.

Whenever I go back to watch games with a clear eye view, it is usually the same.

Even though I know what happened, I can see times where the ebb and flow of a game goes.

And there were a lot early in this game.

Minny had every chance to run away with it, especially after the Woods pick.

This year's team really has a short term memory. And not a lick scared.

In previous years, it was a colossal display of what I can only call cowardice. They were to fight after being beaten down.

Perhaps Fat Mike is Buddha or something.

It is also interesting to see an OC and a DC both coaching their asses off.

One other thing.

Poor Zimmer.

The dude is shaking badly when he is trying to hold up his playsheet.

He is not well.
I saw that. I always liked Zimmer, and have a lot of empathy for him after losing his wife for sure. I think he's on his last legs as a coach in Minnesota.

That touchdown to Cedrick Wilson was a thing of beauty. Perfect pass protection, a well thrown ball and a great run after the catch.

I know it's not the same thing, which is why I said they modified it to make it extra OL, the point was that it seemed like a group thing rather than something Moore just pulled out of his ass.

Having highly competent coordinators who can orchestrate a cohesive plan across their respective position groups is a big thing, maybe the biggest.

The attitude is there with this group for sure but the coaching, particularly defensively, has elevated the talent.

One of my chief complaints with Garrett is he and his staff seemingly never really elevated the players through scheme. If we had a talent advantage we were usually solid to very good, if not we were poor to middling, performance was more or less wholly dependent on talent and the level of focus seemed dependent on the circumstances from year to year (i.e. they would follow up a poor year with a strong year, followed by a poor year once they got high on their horses).

Long story short, you never felt like the coaching elevated any of those Garrett-era teams except Marinelli turning chicken shit into slightly tastier chicken shit in 2014, 16 and definitely 18.
