Carr is the only player with a big contract.

rob ryan was the one keeping this defense from being as bad as it is this year.

Scandrick has a decent contract as well, and Claiborne cost two primo picks.

Yea, it makes it a lot easier for him that he's only on a year deal.

I'm still shocked that he would even suggest he fucked up especially right after a game where the opposing DC made him look so bad.
Doesn't shock me.

His hillbilly buddy Lacewell distanced himself weeks ago.

Maybe we could have used our 2nd rounder this year on the DL, but we needed Escobar to smoothly transition Garrett into the 2 TE offense.

Heaven forbid we actually fire the pet HC after last season. And we should've once and for all recognized that Romo wasn't going to ever get it done and started preparing for his eventual replacement, instead of giving him an extension as if he was the current and longterm answer.

But instead we opted for dumping just Ryan and then replacing him with geriatric Kiffin. Brilliant!
Can't do that. Too many dorks think we'll be doomed to another run of Quincy Carters and Chad Hutchinsons.

Rememberz wut it wuz like bfor teh Romo!!!!1!!1

It's worse than Schmitty's idiotic logic that we should stick with Garrett unless it's guaranteed that we find a better option.

All I know is the status quo isn't working and the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

So, ya, lets ride this Garrett/Romo wagon for 3 or 4 more years. They're bound to break through sooner or later. Right guys?

Feh.

We are setting all time NFL and franchise records for futility.

So unless you are saying Kiffin is the first guy to change schemes and have injuries...I do not see your point.

Even epic bad 1-15 teams did not do shit like this.
Exactly.

Earlier today I was actually thinking about how the 0-16 Lions weren't this bad.

Injuries are not an excuse to be this bad. As Ditka said this morning, half these guys didn't even look like they knew where to line up or go after the ball was snapped.

It probably wouldn't matter anyway. These are just bad players.
Elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about. The GM has built this defense on a core of aging and/or injury prone players.

Projected Starters
Ware: Aging/Injured
Hatcher: Aging/Injured
Ratliff: Aging/Injured/cut
Spencer: Aging/Injured

Lee: Injury Prone/Injured
Carter: Injury Prone/OK
Durant: Average/Injured

Church: Average/OK
Allen: Aging/Average/Cut
Carr: OK
Claiborne: Injured

Key backups:
Scandrick: OK
Wilber: OK
Crawford: Injured
Brent: Suspended/Retired
Wilcox: Rookie/Injured

The above list is plain ridiculous.

Some of it, like Durant, Crawford, Wilcox, and Claiborne, is just bad luck and part of pro football. But Spencer, Ware, Ratliff, and Hatcher are all over 29 and most over 30. Lee and Carter have never been healthy. Ernie Simms and Barry Church are not good players, especially in pass defense. It's so bad these guys make me wish Bradie James and Roy Williams were back. BW Webb is overmatched.

Hatcher, Carr, Lee, and Scandrick have had outstanding seasons, but you'd never have known it thanks to injuries and everyone else being overmatched and/or out of position.

This goes far beyond learning a scheme. These players are not good, and the salary cap pretty much ensures it will be the same or worse next season barring a miracle draft.

I still think keeping Henderson was a mistake when guys with coordinator experience in the Tampa 2 were available. You're trying to teach a completely different way to think about pass coverage and you have a d-backfield coach learning on the job.

Or maybe we could've drafted Floyd at 18 and Fredbeard in the 2nd round. You know, like what we should have done?

I don't know why everyone fell in love with Floyd as soon as it was revealed he was high on this team's board.

Everyone knows the D was injury prone and older...not sure how that is an elephant in the room.

Not even sure your point...because the team liked him we shouldn't have? The bigger point was according to our draft board we were getting a huge steal. Basically they did not follow the road map that they spent a year or so putting together.

I didn't like him and I thought a lot of other people didn't and changed their minds once the draft board thing came out.

He was going first overall in quite a few mocks, which was questionable...but at 18 that looked like a steal.

It's a convenient thought to think Frederick would be available in the 2nd when we picked. OL was being over drafted all day and options were flying by.

I liked him long before the Cowboys even mentioned him. I never considered him a high 1st round candidate, but thought he was a mid-to-late 1st rounder.

I am not unhappy we tok Frederick where we did...the issue I had was that we did not follow our board. We had Floyd at 5 and we passed on him at 18.

Our d-line was set. Jerry told us it was an area of strength. Why doubt his wisdom?
