I certainly hope Hurts puts up enough illusory stats to convince them to not address QB, although this year's QB class is shit, so it probably doesn't matter much either way.

The Colts are/were really good at scheming up an efficient passing game coupled with a strong running game, so I expect that their staff will be able to make Hurts look decent here and there considering how much of a threat he is as a runner, but ultimately he's not able to win with his arm consistently enough downfield and on complex reads/throws.

Basically, he's not a real threat, just like Daniel Jones and whoever the Skins plan on starting isn't.

They probably only drafted him to keep him away from us anyways, but he had been thriving under Hurts
Hurts is a big improvement over Wentz and a functional QB. His biggest obstacle now is lack of experience with the Eagles. He may not be a world beater but he can compete in the league.

Is he really though?
If you just compare the production over the last couple of years with Wentz I think he has made an improvement. The rest of the team also needs improvement before they are legitimately competing in the league.

I don't like Wentz but I think he is a better thrower. Hurts is a better runner but very limited as a passer.

They are very mediocre to bad with either carried by a defense.

Agreed.

At one point last week against Carolina Hurts was (going by memory) something like 12 for 20 for 35 yards.

Keep in mind Carolina has a nice defense but they aren't the 85 Bears.

To have only 35 yards after throwing the ball 20 times is astonishingly bad. I don't remember ever seeing that before.

Wentz has a stronger arm but he doesn’t necessarily have the accuracy to go with it. He has deteriorated. Hurts has the ability to make yardage on the ground . It’s not deemed as a good way to move the ball but he is effective with it.

I wouldn't exactly call 15 catches for 200 yards this year thriving.

He had 46 for 524 and 3 tds last year.
In under a third of the possible games he was on a pace for more catches and a lot more TDs.

He is also at 3 more YPC than the rest of his career in 2021.

My statement that I don't remember seeing a statline like that before has been gnawing at me.

It's occurring to me that I have actually seen it before.

Quincy Carter's first ever game, against the 2000 Buccaneers. One of the best defenses of all time versus one of the worst Cowboys starters of all time in his first ever game.

Quincy's stats from that game.

9 for 19, for 34 yards.

Congrats, Hurts.

Hurts is 87% of the Eagles offense. He needs help. That is where the focus should be.

They have 2 young former first round pick WRs, a young RB coming off 2 straight seasons of 1000 total combined yards, a solid OL, and a solid TE.

Is that not help? It's his own fault if he's that big of a percentage of the team's offense (which is an extremely misleading stat btw).

Or someone who has a different offensive coordinator every year since college. I don’t know how long he will last in the pro ranks but he is productive regardless of what the rest of the team is doing.

And yet the reason they have won is their defense still has it's moments of looking really good. Their Dline can still harass the shit out of a QB.

They aren't winning because of Hurts. He is very limited as a passer. Screens, short passes,, run the ball as a QB and once in awhile take a deep shot. He doesn't make any of the difficult throws though and isn't good at seeing the field as a passer.

Can you win games? Sure. He is a young Tyrod Taylor. You may win some but you're not winning enough to go anywhere.

So by that comparison more than half of the teams in the league have inadequate Quarterbacks because of their winning or losing records? It’s not news that only a few teams are instant winners. Is it mostly on the QB?

So, he's on pace for what? Around 45-50 catches, 600 whatever yards, and 6-7 TDs?

Pretty meh stats, really. Especially when you consider we are in the middle of the highest passing stats period the league has ever seen. Particularly at the TE position, across the board. And couple that with the fact the Eagles don't really have a dynamic WR or two that suck up all the targets.

So.... Sorry. Not really seeing much 'thriving' going on there.

He was my (autodrafted) fantasy TE. He wasn't thriving. :(
