Do they not realize people will game the system?
They don't care.

Deep pockets. Fortune 1, so we will handle it our way, thank you.

It is frustrating because you can see people exploiting all of it, especially the COVID leave program.

Tell the 3rd party leave provider that you came into close contact with zero proof whatsoever?

Okay! That's a 14 day paid leave for you.

Unless they were actually sick and dealing with serious symptoms, I'd at least have them teleworking.

This is what we have had to do at Tech. If you're out with this shit, you're working from home unless you can't sit up. Well, the ones that can work from home that is.

I hired an HR manager, ops manager and office manager in the last 3-4 months. I pretty much gutted a good portion of my leadership team. I’m going to give this a good year to get things straight. If I can’t I’m selling this sucker. We doubled our business for 4 years in a row and I’m not an ops person. I’m a classic entrepreneur and have no skills or desire to run it. We currently have a restoration company, plumbing company, new construction and some reason estate. I’m tired, work a LOT and never have the pressure off.

Therapy session over.

Tell me about your HR Manager.
She came from the same industry that I am in. She was at her last job for 11 years. They were 3x the size that I am and had a total of 6 owners. I could not imagine working for 6 owners omg. So far, she has been extremely steady, competent and has quickly gained the respect of the folks. She left over an integrity issue at her last place - one of the owners committed insurance fraud. She comes from a cop family and background so she don't play with integrity issues.

If you need another HR or Ops person let me know. I’ll move to Texas for the right offer.

I have a theory concerning this. Maybe not the same in smaller companies.
People who have been in the HR field start to fit a mold. Most of them do not innovate. They try the same crap that has been thrown around for years. We honestly see the same nonsense in leadership. We hear platitudes about taking care of people, valuing people as an asset, that somehow if we just keep treating people as they always have been that it will be fine.

Corporations want people with experience because it makes them comfortable rather than giving someone new with ideas a chance.

As a leader, I have always done what is right for my people, not to the detriment of the business but, sometimes, shaded toward the person in order to make them better people and employees. In the long term the employee benefits and so does the company. I don’t use cookie cutter approaches. Each person is unique. I can tell you the right answer to almost every corporate situational ethics/moral/procedural/legal situation. Most companies don’t follow these things even though they recognize what the right thing is.

I really really like this chick. She is the right combo of tough and respectful. One this is that she is really stubborn and inflexible about certain thing. That’s her nature but she has a strong enough character to force herself to learn new things.

I hate excuses. One thing that pisses me off is settling for garbage because “nobody wants to work now”. I know it is true but that’s not 100% accurate. Less people want to work for sure. The way I see it is - why do people not want to work for us? Why aren’t we a better place to work and how can we improve that?

Perfect questions to ask as a leader. Props

I am sure many or most if not all of you have been a part of some sort of leadership role with your job.

So this is a question for you.

And those of you who have not, you have my envy.

Have you ever been in a situation where you literally wanted to just go apeshit (no no ki ki ma ma) and just tell everybody off and quit?

I came to that point today.

But somehow, I controlled myself and it was like in a millisecond.

This is a weird experience because besides my very fucking first job, I have never quit.

I just think sometimes a strong work ethic is a rarity that is taken advantage of.

Nevermind. I am venting.

You better be careful. Don’t you work for the CCP?
