I fucking hate UT so damn much. And, now OU might be on my shitlist. Let's either fill out the Big 12 or all of us move on. The Big 12 would crumble without UT and OU and that's terrible. But, at the same time, I don't want TTU in the SEC.
I dont think Tech is in consideration for the SEC. We will be joining whatever conference takes the leftovers.

My guess would be the PAC12.

10 years from now college football is going to effectively be 2 conferences with like 20-24 teams each. A soccer type of structure might actually make sense, purely logistically speaking, although it'll never happen in our lifetimes because of all the regional pride bullshit.

You could have Group A and Group B, each with 10 teams, and then the rest of the conferences remain as they are without those 20 teams. Each season Group A only plays Group A (and as such crowns a national champion, likely with a top-4 team playoff), same with Group B who are playing to move up to Group A/not get relegated back to the "conferences".

Bottom 2 from A get relegated to B, top 2 from B go up to A (potentially as a result of a 4-team playoff at the B level), bottom 2 from B play a 4-team playoff with the top two "conference" teams, which is the result of like a 16-team playoff at the conference level.

I'd find it amusing.

Ugh, that would suck. I hate that conference. Way too different culturally out there, plus they as a whole don't really like football that much.

It's not my first choice, either.

I had rather the Big12 just stay together and we bring in UCF and Cincinnati or something. But, if we do have to move to another conference, at least I don't have to deal with those teasip fucks anymore.

I don't like all the change. For some reason when it comes to college football I appreciate the traditions more. I do like a playoff but that's about it. I don't all the conferences constantly changing and shifting.

I think we're heading down the road where this will become the new norm. I could see universities doing something where they sign 10 year contracts to play in conferences then at the end of their contract they survey the landscape and shop their services to the "highest bidder", so to speak.

We already have player free agency in CFB, so this seems like the next step in the ever-changing landscape of CFB. Especially now that they've ripped the band-aid off and are now allowing kids to earn money off of their NIL. It seems like CFB is leaning a lot more towards being a professional entity than being an amateur sport. And since most of these decisions are driven by CFB revenue, I could see teams bouncing from conference to conference become the new norm, maybe 20 or so years down the road.

If this move goes through, I assume Texas would have to get rid of their seldom viewed Longhorn Network.

I'm sure, but I won't like it.

It would be the only thing that brings me joy in all this.

Lol @aTm. They can’t get away from their daddy.

UT and OU will go to the SEC if they damn well want to.

we are destined to have four 16 team power 5 teams.

As long as TTU goes to the PAC while TCU and Baylor gets left out in the cold I’m happy. The PAC isn’t going to take private schools.

The superconferences are coming. I just hope Tech chooses the right one.
