Yea, although on one hand I kind of want Garrett to come back next year because I think there is the potential for us to be truly terrible if the season starts off poorly with the team knowing he will be a lame duck. If we go something like 4-12 it probably wouldn't be enough for the 1st overall but if a team like Jacksonville gets that 1st after just drafting a QB in this draft we might be in prime position to trade up for Winston.

I wish a member of the Dallas media would press Garrett on the issue regarding him abandoning the running game.

Garrett always points to a few negative runs as the reason they decide to go pass heavy.

If that's the case, I'd like a reporter to ask why they never abandon the passing game when Romo throws 5 or 6 incomplete passes in a row or when Romo has thrown 2 or 3 INTs.

I'd really like to here his answer to this.

How in the name of fuck did these idiots manage to run Murray only 3 times when he had racked up 31 yards and we were never down by more than 4?

I don't care whether Garrett is calling the plays or not, the design of the offense obviously points directly back to him.

"You'd certainly like to have more balance than that, obviously," coach Jason Garrett said. "We'll keep striving for that. We did run the ball a little bit fairly well early on. DeMarco looked like he was going to have a good day, but as it wore on there were some minus runs that happened that got us behind the sticks a little bit. Hard for us to get into a rhythm."

-----------

There were negative runs, so we will no longer run the ball.

But when there are interceptions or incompletions we will try try try again.

I'd be like the '72 Dolphins after the last unbeaten team loses. Popping bottles.

Jerry's lived a full and fruitful life, so hell yeah I'd be giddy.

He's a selfish SOB who doesn't care about the fans so why should I give a damn about him.

Don't you just love Garrett logic?

The real answer is easy. When you have a $100M QB, you should be able to go pass heavy all the time and expect good results. The Pats can get away with it, the Broncos can and the Giants used to when Eli was only half retarded.

The problem is the Cowboys view Romo on their level. He's not. He never was at the Brady or Peyton level and now this year with him ducking into the fetal position a few times a game instead of trying to make plays he's even worse.

Because it was just further confirmation of what this team is. Inconsistent with poor leadership. The Rams and Broncos games were abberations. This team isn't nearly as good as they were those weeks, but we all would cling to those performances knowing they had it in them and it would eventually click. But deep down we know it won't. Not with this coaching staff.

The Pats, Broncos and Saints all run the ball effectively and mix it in to their play-calling very well, they are also all very good in the screen game, something we are terrible at. Long story short, this offense is completely reliant on Romo making plays down field, we almost never get big chunk plays out of easily (supposedly) executed plays like runs and screens.

'Next man up' makes plays for Cowboys
November, 4, 2013

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

ARLINGTON, Texas -- A week ago Everette Brown was at the Dallas Cowboys' Valley Ranch facility preparing for a workout. On Sunday, Brown played a big role on the defensive line in the 27-23 win against the Minnesota Vikings.

Brown had a strip sack of quarterback Christian Ponder on the final drive of the game and was credited with two tackles and a quarterback hurry.

“We’ve had a little sequence here where we bring them in on Wednesday and they play on Sunday,” coach Jason Garrett said. “We’ve been doing that for about eight weeks. I think one of those guys we brought in Wednesday (for practice) had a sack for us, so the ‘next man up,’ philosophy is alive and well with our football team and certainly our defensive line.”

Brown wasn’t the only new face. Jarius Wynn, who signed with the Cowboys on Oct. 15, started in place of Kyle Wilber, who had replaced DeMarcus Ware for two games. Wynn had one tackle and a hellacious hit on Ponder on Nick Hayden's fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Drake Nevis played a ton with Marvin Austin knocked out in pre-game warmups because of a back strain and Jason Hatcher and Hayden knocked out in the game because of a stinger and back injuries. Nevis signed on Sept. 24. Austin signed on Oct. 21.

“Just going out there, working hard, listening to the coaches and really just diving in and knowing what to do when that time comes,” Wynn said.

Cowboys punter Chris Jones 'lays a lick'

Punters aren’t known for their tackles, but Chris Jones made a nice play on Vikings returner Marcus Sherels in the first quarter.

Sherels found an opening and was looking to go the distance, but Jones wrapped him up after 26 yards.

“I think he probably expected me to break down and shuffle,” Jones said. “We kind of closed on each other so fast that it was kind of one of those go-for-it [deals] and it worked out.”

Jones received some complimentary words from his teammates, saying: “That was a legit tackle. It’s good to know I can lay a lick every now and then.”

:lol

Yea, isn't that his excuse every time we look like shit against a bad team?

The Vikings are SO much better than their record. I mean, did you see them fail to force a punt last week against the Packers? How are they 1-7?

I guess I'm just mislead.
