I think it's safe to assume that Jerry Jones will shoehorn Witten onto the coaching staff. Lunda Wells had better watch his back.

He can go coach with his buddy Dan in Detroit.

Sorry, I love the guy but we need a few more years apart.

I'd be okay bringing him onto the staff. Make his an assistant TEs coach if there is such a thing. He knows his shit and is smart.

Who's the "certain HC candidate" he referred to? Garrett?

Let him coach somewhere else first and move up the ranks organically, this organization needs to stop making a habit of shoehorning their "favorite son" types into positions when they have no context or perspective of what things are like outside of Dallas.

I recall an interest in his Alma mater

That's what I'm wondering. It can't possibly be Garrett. I thought about Romo for a second but then I remembered he's making about $17M per year in the broadcast booth. Top coaches aren't making that type of money.

If he knew then what he knows now, I wonder if he'd have bothered coming back for that one last season with the Raiders.

I watched a handful of Raiders games and the only time I noticed him on the field was when they were in heavy packages and short-yardage situations.

I know he still thought he could contribute even in a reduced role but 2020 had to be pretty humbling.

Absolutely.

The guy has been part of a losing culture, fault or no fault.

We don't need him referring to his glory days as a shining example.

I saw a similar role for a much slower Gronk

Love it. If he does well somewhere else, you know he'd always been an option to come home as Dallas' HC.

But if he sucks, we don't have to deal with him anymore.

Martellus Bennett is still not a fan of Jason Witten.

Poetic justice he has a ring and Witten doesn’t
Remember last summer Austin Hooper kinda echoed the complaints that Bennett had about Witten. IIRC, he said that he wouldn't treat the Browns young TEs like Witten treated his teammates.

Hooper's never been teammates with Witten but being that a lot of these guys hang in the same circles, share agents, etc., I assume he's heard similar stories to the ones that Bennett's shared.
