That's a stupid comparison. One was on the job and one was enjoying his free time.
I don't recall the context of the Che shirt.

Was that on Kaepernick's "free time"?

Lookit, I am sorry Gundy is a dipshit mullet redneck who has already said some pretty inflammatory things in recent months.

I don't give him a pass at all.

Like I said before, he might as well have been wearing a MAGA hat in terms of what message he was trying to convey.

But here is the deal with that. We have never weeded out racist cops and held them accountable. Shit happens. A guy here or there might get fired or even face jail time.

I can't deny the rationale. Police in this country have been allowed to do what they wanted for so long, yet they have been protected by the unions. That's the strikepoint IMO.

I'm not saying changes aren't needed, I'm just saying burning everything down is going to create more enemies than inspire people to your side.

What's wrong with wearing a MAGA hat? I mean, aside from the fact that it triggers the left.

We were talking about him kneeling while on the job compared to someone wearing a t-shirt on a fishing trip or some shit. Way to move the goalposts.

I'm not up to speed on what Gundy has said that was so offensive. Can you enlighten me?

Like I said before, he might as well have been wearing a MAGA hat in terms of what message he was trying to convey.
So you think wearing a MAGA hat and a TV network show's t-shirt is offensive and racist? Because, that's interesting if you do.

I didn't give two shits about Kapernick kneeling and never called for him to be silenced, let him take a damn knee and move on down the road as far as I'm concerned. I thought the NFL blew it by not getting out front of the issue since they already promote other issues like the pink shoe cancer stuff. Given the majority of NFL players are black, it should have been an easy thing to do, especially considering they have now come full circle.

Having said that, wearing a shirt with a logo when on your own time fishing strikes me as a completely different situation than doing it while on the job working for an employer who has the right to define work conditions, uniforms, etc

Neither scenario should be censored by a recreationally outraged mob imo. If they deviate course, change because it makes sense & the issue has validity, otherwise have the balls to tell the world to pound said and deal with the consequences

The only issue I ever had with the Kap situation is that I watch sports as an escape. I find politics exhausting & tedious so when I get a chance to relax and forget about the problems of the world, etc, I don't want my escape to turn into the same shit I'm trying to avoid.

Where does it stop?

Does my waiter at my favorite restaurant have the right to give me a ten minute spiel about his or her personal politics before I can order my food?

If I go to a movie, does the usher get to come down and give a political speech before the movie starts?

I think its ok to just let entertainment be entertainment but I suppose the NFL started this shit in the first place by co-opting the national anthem to engender devotion to their sport via patriotism associated with the flag, etc

I was about to post this in the feel good thread but since we're talking all over the place here, some might find this interesting and some might be outraged:

Then you fucking try again, instead of turning into a moratorium on how silence is secret racism, how saying respect the flag is secret racism, how saying All Lives Matter is secret racism, how saying Capitalism is Good is secret racism, how saying maybe there isn’t compete systemic racism in this county is secret racism.

9 unarmed minorities were shot and killed by police officers last year. Granted that number does not account for deaths by kneeling but it could not be possibly that many more.

Things can and should change but without a total overhaul of the entire system, which actually works remarkably well on most levels.

So yes, I do think a big “fuck you,” is warranted to those who would try to villainize us for saying, things are not so bad.

And as I’ve said before, booze, you are undoubtedly a vile racist under today’s leftist media definition. You are not safe from the branding either.

That was fucking amazing. Thank you for posting that. It's really cool to watch the debate in a civil manner. And both "sides" seemed to have equal time. For those that didn't watch that, do it now.

Nobody would care if Kaepernick was campaigning for BLM in his free time.

And for a professional athlete who has the media at his disposal anytime he wants, it's inexcusable to do it at work. How long would any of us last at our jobs if we forcibly shared our political beliefs on our co-workers or clients?

Exactly, and my boss would fire me for advocating for ANY political cause while I was on the clock. Matter of fact, there are policies against it in the state of Texas for state employees. Hell, if I even signed a political petition using my work email I could and most likely would be fired.

They're no dummies. It's more impactful to do it on a grand stage. That's why those track and field guys raised their fists at the Olympics instead of on a street corner.

And, just like the free market, your stock can get hit hardest the bigger stage you perform on.
