If Trey Lance decides to declare next year, he should be a first rounder. I would love to get this guy.
The 2020 NFL Draft may be over but we never stop looking ahead. We profile one of the top QB prospects in NDSU's Trey Lance. -Steel City Blitz

There have been quite a few articles popping up lately about him being a first rounder next year.
Bruce Feldman mentioned him about a week ago in his article from The Athletic. Some snippets from the article are below.

Lawrence, Fields and … ? The other college QBs who might crash the 2021 NFL draft party
At this time last year, no one, not even Joe Burrow, would have predicted that Burrow was going to end up as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Many draft analysts had the LSU quarterback pegged as a mid- to late-round pick.
But Burrow’s ascent from relative obscurity to becoming the first QB taken in the draft was not unprecedented. In 2019, it was OU’s Kyler Murray who shot up to be the top overall pick. In 2017, the breakout QB was North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky who the Bears took second overall. In 2014, the breakout guy was UCF’s Blake Bortles, who became the first quarterback selected.
It seems like a stretch to think some other college quarterback will overtake Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence and Ohio State’s Justin Fields as the most sought-after quarterback in the 2021 draft (assuming Lawrence do in fact enter the NFL Draft). But
The Athletic reached out to 15 people who work in the quarterback evaluation space — NFL coaches, scouts, draft analysts and others — to find out who they think has the best chance to climb the ladder and become a top draft pick.
The choices I gave them:
North Dakota State’s Trey Lance: The 6-3, 225-pounder led North Dakota State to an FCS title and had a 28-0 TD-INT ratio and also ran for 1,100 yards as a redshirt freshman.

For this process, I allowed the panel to mention multiple QBs. Lance,
whom I wrote about two weeks ago, generated by far the most positive feedback among the panel.
NFL Network draft analyst Bucky Brooks, former NFL scout: “Trey Lance could emerge as a contender for the No. 1 spot due to his combination of athleticism, poise and playmaking ability. He reminds me a lot of Deshaun Watson with his style of play. He can carve you up from the pocket or use his legs to create plays on the perimeter. He takes good care of the ball. Most important, he wins. With NDSU producing pros at the position, scouts are going to take him seriously as a prospect, and the NFL’s shift towards more athletic playmakers at the position could help him climb the charts.”
A veteran NFL scout: “From what I’ve seen thus far, he seems a notch above these other guys. You turn on the tape and he makes some unbelievable throws.”
NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah, former scout: “You talk to scouts and he gets people excited. He has plenty of arm. He has the ability to run around and make plays under control. And he’s playing at a place that just produced Carson Wentz and Easton Stick. They’ve proven that they can get these guys ready to go.”
