I wonder how many people actually saw players like Staubach or Morton or even Meredith play or if they are just going off what they see on highlight reels. It’s one thing to watch an entire game or just see the high spots someone put together.
I saw 2 of 3. Even Im too young to have gotten to see Dandy Don. And Im not young.

What does it matter? Their stats suck compared to Romo’s.

Postseason success matters for QBs, though, and can't be ignored.
That’s where Aikman separates himself from Romo. From 92-95, an eleven game stretch, Aikman not only elevated his performance from the regular season (compare the QB ratings), but Aikman is Top 5 all-time in modern NFL history playoff performance for a consecutive stretch of 10+ playoff games.

Not so fast. Willie Blade was not the pick, he was taken in the regular draft. The pick was Darren Benson.

Boom!
You are thinking supplemental draft.

I am talking about a compensatory pick in the regular April draft. Cowboysrock said he didn't think we had ever been awarded a third before... I was sure we had. And we were - in 2001, and we spent the pick on Willie Blade. See here: 2001 NFL Draft - Wikipedia

Pick 93, the asterisk is for a compensatory selection.

That does seem to be the only time we'd ever received a third as a compensatory pick though. I wonder what free agent loss that was for? Would have been a 2000 offseason departure.

Edit: As I think about it -- relatively sure it was for the loss of Randall Godfrey to the Titans.

Perfect example.
Elite QBs typically thrive in the postseason.
I will concede 2014 Romo was excellent in the playoffs that year.
If his body hadn't failed him he might have won a chip before he retired.

Nice catch, remember the player but didn't realize it was a comp pick. Such bad drafts back then.

Yes. Because this is an international football player program. It think it's relative to mention where they come from.
I did not realize this. Thanks.

No, I'm pretty good with the first one. Thanks, tho.
You assume I hate Romo. To you, anyone who doesn't think as highly of Romo as you do = hater!!!...
Or you could practice a little common sense yourself and not make such silly assumptions.
I think he was a good, top 10-12 QB most of his run, his last four years were especially good. However, a QB's body of work is judged by what they do in January.
Romo for many reasons (most of which were not his fault) fell short. It is what it is.

It is basically the same thing that we did several years ago with Efe Obada.

The rest of the division got guys like

DE David Bada - Germany (Redskins)
DE Matt Leo - Australia (Eagles)
RB Sandro Platzgummer - (Giants)

Clearly we got the best guy.

You knowing what I think is amazing. Awesome skill you have there.

Also, that comment you originally quoted wasn't aimed at you. But if you felt the need to think it was, that's cool. Carry on.

I have never heard of any of these guys.

But your homerism is inspiring.

"Some" do get caught up in blind bashing of QBs and "some" get caught up in over-defending the same QBs.
Was certainly true for Tony and is also true for Prescott.

True. I was in an argument the other day with one my friends on Facebook.

For whatever reason the guy has a strong dislike of Dak. My friend is black so it's not a race thing.

He nitpicks the hell out of Dak for every little thing and I've even called him out a few times for straight up creating false narratives. For instance he's tried to claim that Dak was the reason Witten's numbers sharply declined and that Cole Beasley went from catching 70 passes a year to something in the 30s because of Dak.

Of course I pointed out that Witten was 34 years old by the time Dak took over and that his numbers were similar to Romo's last full season (2014). I also pointed out that Beasley's numbers have been a lot better with Dak than with Romo.

Even when Dak has a great game the "compliments" that he throws out are usually backhanded compliments.

I'm not sure why Dak is so polarizing to certain groups of the fan base.

Dak was handed a stronger supporting cast than anyone this side of Daunte Culpepper. I think that rubs a lot of people the wrong way. He basically walked into an amazing situation, one Romo had fought for and his body couldn’t cash in on.

You can’t blame Dak, far from it, he’s saved us from QB Hell.

2017 showed what a stark difference not having key pieces like Zeke and Tyron or a fading Dez could do to Dak.

2018 was more of the same until Cooper arrived, and since then defenses have been fucked— sooner or later patient Dak is going to score points with an awesome collection of weapons.

Dak hasn’t had to force shit, he’s been able to remain patient for the most part.

I think thats’s a big part of many people’s wait and see attitude with Dak.

He just needs to get some quality wins under his belt, and I don’t mean the Eagles or an undermanned Russell Wilson, or that defensive struggle vs the Saints.

He needs to beat the best in the NFL with his creativity and his arm on the national stage and in the playoffs.

Then no one will be complaining.

While I mostly agree with this, he played Aaron Rodgers at the very top of his game to basically a standstill in his first playoff game when we were down huge and forced out of a balanced offensive attack.
