All the sane people should get together and form a new party.

Sanity Party. I’m in.
Gotta fix term limits before any new party is formed. It is the only way to get money out of politics.

Off the 80 or so deaths in Texas due to Coronavirus, most (80%) were under 50 years of age.

They tried it way back when with the original Tea Party. Did not last long.

And the latest version put their faith in Paul Ryan who immediately sold out to lobbyists as soon as he got power

Did they try to recruit sane democrats?

A platform with some middle ground would be nice.
No it just degenerated into some other kind of nasty.

Good intentions. Got perverted by insane right wingers.

I don't think many of those exist anymore.

If they lose again this November and this virus shows everyone China's true colors and the dangers of communism and globalism, maybe they'll come back towards the middle again.

Or the more likely outcome is they cry they were cheated again and double down on socialism

It was in the ElPaso newspaper. I googled it. Actually it was 80%was 50 and under. I think I got the ages wrong. It was ages reported in that county who were infected. The deaths listed however was 70 for the state.

thanks for clarifying, I hadn't seen a breakdown of deaths by age anywhere. I'm rooting against this stat and hope its more related to elderly with pre-existing conditions.

I'm seeing a total death in Texas anywhere from 70 to 81 from the sites I'm keeping an eye on:

They're claiming in Italy:

99% of Those Who Died From Virus Had Other Illness, Italy Says

99% seems to high of a percentage to me but I suppose lets hope its true

:lol

You were the one who (again) tried to come across like you know everything. So basically... Go fuck yourself, you self important, look at me I'm a doctor so I KNOW EVERYTHING cocksucker.
No offense, but I know FAR more about this shit than you do. That's just a fact. I've spent the last month and a half educating myself to treat my pts as best I can and to protect myself and my family. I have continuously heard ignorant comments coming out of the President's mouth and parroted by some of you. Finally, we're starting to get everybody on the same page but it shouldn't have taken this fucking long. That's just a fact. I go to work everyday and see sick and frightened people who didn't have to be either. It's gut-wrenching and I can only imagine what my colleagues in NYC think. Sorry if you think I'm self important but what I do is important and that's why I risk my health doing it. I worked my ass off for a decade to become a doctor so I can have the privilege of treating people who are gravely ill.

So you can show some fucking respect you worthless piece of shit. I'll be there when you get ill too you fuck.

I relate to what I thought were republican ideas but over the years I see them driving up the debt and doing hypocritical nonsense that undermines any devotion I may have once had toward them so they don't have my trust.

I despise many of the sentiments reflected by many democrats (like Bernie, Warren & AOC), not that I don't have sympathy for charity, the poor and that there needs to be checks against monopolies, too much corporate power with undue influence, etc but I don't believe government should be deciding how much someone can make, forcing tax dollars toward controversial issues like abortion that could be funded by those that are ok with abortion, etc , etc, etc.

The democrats I've met have typically had a high intelligence but what intelligence they may possess is overshadowed by their anger, condescending attitude and general disdain for anyone who they perceive as being too stupid to see things their way. I tease many of these types and remind them they're the reason why Trump got elected because folks couldn't stand their asses so rather than argue or dialogue with them, they just smiled and walked away without engaging their rant and sent them a big fuck you at the polls. I know several folks who didn't like Trump but had so much disdain for democrats and the current political system, they thought of Trump as a hand grenade and wanted to see what would happen if they threw that bomb into the White House by voting for him.
I enjoy reading your posts, as well as Booze's as, while I don't always agree with them, they are at least well thought out. I'm not a huge fan of the Dems as much as a hater of the Reps. The Reps have consistently been on the wrong side of so many issues that are important to me and so obvious (gay marriage, separation of religion, assault weapons, the environment, universal healthcare). I see their justification for their positions to be, frankly, corrupt and disingenuous. Few Rep politicians really believe that people aren't causing climate change. They know. They are just lying about it because they are bought and paid for. Few Reps really were against gay marriage. They have gay friends just like most of us who are mature adults. They were against it because they were playing to the least common denominator.

Now Dems are super full-of-shit as well. All the thought police crap is nauseating. A man says a woman looks nice and is suddenly a sex offender. Their expectations that everyone is perfect to whatever new wave bullshit mode of thinking is in vogue is ridiculous. Then you have people running around saying they are for shit like reparations when they know damn well that's an empty promise. They are bought and paid for as well, just possibly by a less scary contingency. I agree they have a tendency towards being intellectually superior but when the other side seems to disrespect education and science, it's hard not to.

I think the real reason Trump was elected was 1) the Dems ran a shitty candidate they loved but few others did and 2) free trade has fucked over a generation of young and middle-aged Americans. People have few opportunities, especially in the "fly over" states and they pissed. That's why they keep flip-flopping between the parties hoping someone will change things for them. Of course, unless you severely restrict free trade that's not going to change. We're still gonna be a country of waiters and Walmart workers rather than factory workers. That's not on the table, really, because the people who really control the world are getting filthy rich.

So, I tend to lean more towards the Dems. However, I would have voted for McCain over Hillary, or Romney over Hillary. So it's not all about party. Character matters.

I would love to have a moderate party which simply took the most rational approach to issues rather than being so interested in riding wedge issues into the ground. Honestly I could give 2 shits about abortion. Abort, don't abort. Leave me out of it. I bet a lot of people think that way. Bigger fish to fry. But my moderate party probably wouldn't be your moderate party and we're right back at it.

Term limits would help but essentially you have to get money out of politics. The Supreme Court has moved to block that so you have to fix that as well. It's a mess.
