That was the problem... these guys don't need a friend, they need a coach. After you've achieved your goal, you can be "buddy-buddy"... until it's time to get back to work.

You notice the ONLY times Jimmy would tolerate the players messing with his hair?

He clapped when they fucked up and chest bumped when they succeeded. Of course they miss him.

Sounds like Jerry is going to not so subtly suggest that the next HC keep Moore/Kitna/Colombo/Gary Brown on the offensive staff. Certainly not great, although if it's a guy like Riley it would make some sense given that I'm sure he'd struggle to put together a full staff of non-college coaches.

"I'm a real good dude, but there were times I really just wanted to like F-bomb everybody, including the people at the top, when I was there, because it's bull crap," Hatcher said on 105.3 The Fan's Ben and Skin show [KRLD-FM]. "It's a circus there sometimes. Like let's focus on winning. I think at the same time that the Cowboys brand has outgrown football, if that makes sense. It ain't about football no more. It's hard to focus on football because all of the other components you have around you. Before you even get to Sundays, you done went around the world on a damn tour.

"We done had Super Bowl teams every year. But you know what? The Cowboys brand, all the stuff you had to go through, by the time you get to football, you're like, this is a joke, football is a joke. People want to know what's wrong with the Cowboys, that's what is wrong with the Cowboys."
Wow! How the hell did I miss this? I'm surprised jeri didn't find a way to have this scrubbed from the internet

What a quote, I wish more players would speak like this.

That place and the players are captive like subjects in a dictatorship and if enough of them came out in masse then at least jeri would have to answer for the constant barrage of criticism and maybe, just maybe tangible change would occur

If true I'd expect that we end up with either McCarthy, Greg Roman or Dan Campbell if Jerry wants to go real familiar.

Roman hasn't been a HC before obviously but has been a high-level OC for the better part of a decade. Campbell is the guy if Jerry wants to feel real comfortable, so that's why I throw him in there, and then of course McCarthy brings the most experience.

I'd be mostly indifferent to McCarthy, not especially happy but I wouldn't hate it either. He's not Garrett, so that's the most important thing.

Then why did he keep sticking you as the 4th corner when you were clearly better than Brown and often better than Chido and Byron in certain situations.
Yet if he actually didn’t like Garrett he could have been a lot less generous than that.

But everyone keep pretending like you actually know literally anything about the locker room, or what Garrett is like as a person. The real answer is.... pretty much nothing.

Hey SBK junior. Is there anyone on this board that you haven’t insulted lately? Just because you have some weird mancrush for Jason Garrett and can’t stand anyone disagreeing with any call he has ever made doesn’t mean anyone else’s opinion is completely invalid. I’m not the only one who has said in the past that Lewis has looked better than other corners on the team. I never claimed to have insider knowledge or be inside the locker room but if the coach gave him every opportunity then I clearly missed something. Though I agree that it was time for Garrett to go, I haven’t exactly been posting around here dogging him non stop.

Let's hope Jerry is desperate enough to get a real coach like when he brought in Parcells.
The only thing that has proven more important to him than ego is money, and unfortunately, he does not need a new stadium.

Maybe death can be as important as money.

Maybe.

Yup.

I again would not say that he got "chances that he didn't deserve," but I certainly agree that he got enough chance to get it done, and he didn't. If anything, he was given generous leeway.

There is no argument that he's being treated unfairly.

Well, other than this weird end-of-contract thing here, this whole ending has been fucked up by the Joneses.

I don't think it was a coincidence that the official firing notice happened on a Sunday night, and then the very next morning news of the new hiring comes out. Now I think Jerry was trying to protect Garrett from some media scrutiny with the timing. Now most people are talking about McCarthy and not Garrett.
