Considering that article about analytics said he had been working with Jim Haslett, I'd say he was the more likely DC choice.
Apparently Broaddus is saying Haslett wouldn't be the DC. Well, that is kind of rude for McCarthy to get this little group together and then leave them in the cold when he gets hired.

I'm beginning to wonder if Werder burned Jerry or Stephen by releasing the info when he did, and now they're doing this to show him up.

My question is how on earth did they sneak him in and out like that.

Dallas is the NFL's worst at keeping things secret.

But I bet this is all part of the plan.

A big press conference to announce that Garrett is now a club executive AND his first hire is Marvin Lewis.

Wouldn't that be cool?
The first part could be credible about Garrett but I doubt Lewis is a hire.

Someone on Reddit said Rooney Rule candidates have to come from outside the organization so that's probably what that was.

I think McCarthy is a great coach, and the story about him embracing analytics and other philosophy changes has me even more boned up. Would be refreshing to have a coach not stuck in his ways.

His record speaks for itself. Great with quarterbacks, and he was way ahead of the game on the NFL's current pass-heavy revolution.

I don’t know why, but I am halfway intrigued with McCarthy.

I don't know about fantastic but with the right DC I think he can win.
Don't let his last couple of years at GB taint your opinion. He did some amazing stuff there.

Don't let booze or anyone fool you, McCarthy would be a fantastic hire.
I personally wouldn't consider it fantastic but I wouldn't dislike it either.

He did some really good things in Green Bay....hell, he did some great things.

And while it was evident that the game was starting to pass him by when he left, it is very encouraging that the guy recognized that and has spent his time away from the game learning new concepts and increasing his knowledge and understanding of today's offenses.

We could do a lot worse than to hire him.
