I thought the GB players, Rodgers especially, thought McCarthy was pretty much of a clown towards the end of his tenure.
Yeah the players basically ran the team sort of like in Dallas under Garrett. He'd be a terrible idea.

I think he'll be gone eventually but I won't fully believe it until we get something official from the team or until rumors of guys coming in for interviews start floating.

I'm sure Jerry will have a big tear filled press conference like an all time great is retiring.

I knew I'd wake up to conflciting reports and "not so fast" stories. Nothing is ever simple down there.

Shocking.
I realize your comment is sarcasm but this is what I indicated was the reason for his meetings. I think the determination was already made about his tenure as HC and even though Garrett tried to plead for his status (if he actually did) as head coach, the only real conversation that would be for consideration to the Jones was a place in the organization.

I'm most skeptical of his still having a playbook in WCO-jargon. It, along with Coryellese are getting to be dead languages as everyone adopts New England Terminology in their offense.

I would expect something official within the next day or so. I don’t think Jerry can go much longer without being in front of a camera.

I wonder how satisfying the Rooney goes in Dallas.

Jerry sees some random black person in the hall, probably says “You ever wanted to be a coach?” Then he cuts him off mid answer and asks said black person, “whatcha got in your pockets, colored boy?”.

I’m not so sure Jones is anxious to get in front of a bunch of reporters that want every detail of the Garrett decision. It seems apparent that he really wasn’t wanting to have to make the decision he did. He possibly would rather talk about other organization matters but just let any conversation about Garrett slide. Obviously the news media will want to hash him about Garrett and he knows it.

What a fucking joke. There are plenty of quality coaches that are black and would get a job on that alone, but the Rooney rules taints that. The NFL isn’t the place for this rule as no one cares what color you are in this line of business. If they did there wouldn’t be black players.

Exactly, the rule is counterproductive, imo.

But it begs the question, does any team really take it seriously?

Pretty freaking childish. How hard is it to be man enough to get up behind a mike and say: "We had a plan and it didn't work. We made mistakes and we have to go in a different direction. I take responsibility for not acting faster to right the ship and not having the right answers when we needed them. We're bringing in some new people and we're making new plans to move forward and make improvements."
