Celebrate all you want; I certainly did when Phillips was gone. But again.... I wasn’t calling him a “fucking piece of shit.” Certainly not anymore after he was gone... I was released from his terror and didn’t have to worry about him any more and I think I actually said some appreciative things about him, while acknowledging that he just wasn’t the right man for the job. In any case, again, my point isn’t about a debate on the merits of anything Garrett related. It’s just like.... wow.... so angry. It’s over. Let it go and look forward, life is more fun that way.
No, I remember you calling him a great many names 10 years ago, and you’ve been hanging on Garrett’s incompetent cock ever since.

Comparing your relief with SOB’s departure isn’t close to comparable to Garrett’s.

You're right. It's much better.
Even when SOB was hired, you knew it was a temporary holdover. Garrett has been the unwarranted anointed one for near a decade, arguably 6 years too long.

Despite everything Jerry has said about still having to make a decision, I would be very, very surprised if Garrett is back as head coach.

As myself and many others have speculated though, I would be significantly less surprised if he’s no longer head coach but IS retained in the organization in some role.

Despite the bashing in this thread I think Garrett does have some usefulness and perhaps even unrealized (to some) usefulness to a team where Jerry Jones is the head honcho, in that, he’s at least from a football background and does a decent job of keeping away from the sideshow. As has been speculated in another thread (or was it this one?) Garrett seems to be a better long term thinker than a short term one which is why much of his “game management” draws the most criticism.

I don’t know what role it could be, whether it would be a good thing or bad thing, nor am I anywhere close to predicting it, but, Jones does have the affinity for the Garretts. If he is promoted to Jerry hand holder in the press box no one would be surprised, is all I’m saying.

There is no way in hell you keep your previous head coach around. What a distraction and mixed situation for the new coach. You need to rethink this because there is zero chance this will happen. I wouldn't be surprised if Garrett doesn't get a HC job elsewhere in the league. Despite our all being tired of him, he isn't the worst coach in the league. He has a number of good traits. He just has failed to elevate his team when it counted.

Um, no. Jerry stated that Red would be "very sought after" on the open market. Now's the time to prove it.

I’m sure he’ll get another shot, but it won’t be more than a 2-3 year gig, and sure as shit won’t be a 10 year gig.

True; it would be just another example of Jerry dysfunction though.

I wasn’t advocating this though. Just saying I wouldn’t be surprised if Jerry does it, or tries to do it.

I've said this for years, but I'd actually be completely fine with Garrett as GM in some weird dual role with McClay. It's not ideal but I sure as shit would trust him to build a roster over Jerry if we're just comparing 1:1 here.

It's not something I want, but probably since at least 2013-ish I've been saying I'd rather have him there if it meant getting him off the sidelines. I think he's much better suited for a detached role where he can take a macro view of things and make long-term decisions after having time to weigh various options/scenarios. I just never thought he was cut out for making the instinctive, hair-trigger decisions in the heat of the moment in NFL games given his ridiculous clock/game management mistakes, especially in the first few years.

Basically, I think he's book smart but lacking in street smarts as far as football goes, although I think the majority of it was just wanting to get the fucker off the sidelines.

Completely fine?

Why the hell would anyone want that loser anywhere near this team after having to endure 10 years of his stank?

What makes you think that same narrow-minded arrogance that be brought as a coach wouldn't carry over to that position?

He thinks he knows better than everybody and it's been clear for years, including this one, that he overrode his offensive coordinators and forced his plays and gameplans onto them.

So what do you think he would do to the head coach below him?

No, get that fucking guy as far away from Dallas as possible. I don't even want him serving popcorn in the stadium.

I cannot believe after what we've seen from him as the HC that anyone would be ok with him remaining part of this organization in any capacity.

Even if he ended up coaching high school football in Dallas, he'd still be way too close for comfort for my liking.
