Garrett says Cowboys had better spirit on defense versus Broncos than against Chargers
Jason Garrett says the Cowboys played with better spirit on defense against the Broncos than they did the week before against the Chargers.
“There was a relentless nature to how we played,” the Cowboys coach said Monday at Valley Ranch, asked to pick out any good things he saw in the defense, which gave up 51 points and 517 yards. “Sometimes people say, ‘What’s this guy talking about? They gave up 500 yards, they gave up 51 points, all of that.’ But when you watch the tape, we played better in that regard than we had the previous week. And that’s something you can identify as being something that’s good.”
The Cowboys gave up 17 points in the second half in the San Diego loss. Over the last six quarters, it’s 68 points and 744 yards allowed.
Garrett was encouraged that the Cowboys got the Broncos into third down. But of course, they allowed nine conversions out of 13.
“Getting them to third down was a positive thing,” Garrett said. “Obviously, not shutting them down like you want to is something that we’ve got to get better at. But I thought we rallied to the ball. I thought we covered a little more competitively than we did before, with the back end guys. Mo Claiborne played better than he did the week before. There were some good things that you look at on the tape. Overall, it’s not good enough.”

So what he's saying is that you didn't see guys like Carter jogging after surrendering a big play etc.
I guess that's like nice and stuff.
