It is funny, yesterday afternoon my son asked me if I thought that Kliff would get one of these NFL HC jobs. I laughed at him at told him to stop being a homer because it wasn't going to happen.
Yeah kind of crazy that a guy can go from being fired at a school like Texas Tech to being an NFL Head coach.

Trying to change the defensive culture at Tech vs. running an NFL team isn't the same. I don't really know if he make it or not. I tend to think no but the trend is for young offensive gurus to bring excitement. He is extremely smart, very very high character and the hardest working person you'll see. He is confrontation averse and I'm not sure if he can be a leader of men.

McVay is an exciting personality and has that going for him. I'm a little confused about what Kliff brings to the table other than what I listed above.
I doubt he succeeds but tbh I'm a little excited to see what offensive wrinkles he brings to the league

Yeah everyone just wants the next McVay. They assume they can put together a defensive staff. They want the brilliant offensive mind to be the head coach. It will definitely be interesting. He isn't constrained with recruiting like he was in college football. Now he just gets to pick his talent.

Head to head match-up: Belichick vs Kingsbury as the all-time greatest HC

I give Kliff the slight edge right now since he overcame so much just to get the job.

With a talented young QB I'm excited to see how the Cardinals offense does with an offensive guru. It's the type of move you make in hopes of bringing out the best in your young QB. It will either pay off big or you'll get Steve Spurrier all over again in the NFL.

Pretty much spot on.

Kingsbury going from a below .500 fired college coach directly to NFL HC is pretty surprising. Not sure I see the wisdom there.

Yeah, I think it's unfair to expect Goff level improvements like he had from Fisher to McVay because of how bad Fisher was but I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see KK quiet all the "he's a bust" guys

They better get to work at building an OL if they want this shit to work.

That is surprising to me as well. It’s almost like they want his offensive side and he can rely on other coaches for the west. It could work but it could also catch up to the system.

Isn't that most head coaches in the NFL? They come in as either offensive or defensive coordinators and need to hire someone to handle the other side of the ball? The Cards just really love what KK can do as an offensive coordinator essentially.

This isn't like college football where he has to recruit and decide how he is going to add talent to his team. That's the GMs job.

I obviously hope for the best for Kliff, but man, I was doubtful of him when he came to Tech, didn't see a lot of improvement at Tech, and now he has moved up a level. It's just hard to imagine much success.

Possibly but most pro HCs have a tenure in the NFL.

I hate that setup so much. It's almost like teams are hiring guys to be co-head coach with a coordinator.
