Dallas did not have Ratliff and Spencer most of last season so it is not a big deal now.

Shouldn't be much of anything. He has 1 career sack and has played in like a grand total of 6 game over the last two seasons. He did get a sack against the Chiefs but that is basically all he has done at this point in his career.

Not saying the player isn't any good, just that his own team must not hold him in high regards so the trade value shouldn't be much.
Speculation is that the Eagles aren't in love with how Curry has played against the run. But when he's been on the field he's made plays and I'd bet he plays more and more going forward. He had a very good preseason and played well against the Chiefs so they won't just give him away. I get the sense that he is still in their plans so he may not be available at all absent a blow-them-away type of offer.

Could they be more obvious, grabbing a Charger DL the week they're playing in San Diego?

They also grabbed Bosworth before playing the Giants. Edgar Jones before playing the Chiefs.

Look for an ex-Bronco with the next churn. If that's the case, make it a OL or CB.

I don't think his time with the Chargers means much...he seems like a good fit.

It's more than churning when the guy you sign will see a decent amount of time on the field. Our cupboard is bare, a product of our crack personnel group.

That churning has produced Selvie and Hayden though.

Garrett believes Cowboys' new scheme can get Drake Nevis playing like he did at LSU

The Cowboys are using the change-of-scenery theory with Drake Nevis.

Or maybe, change-of-defensive-line.

“Oftentimes, these defensive linemen get into systems that really suit them or maybe don’t suit them quite as much,” coach Jason Garrett said. “We feel like playing in this scheme, we can get him back to playing the way he played in college: coming off the ball, playing with good leverage and being a destructive force, both in the run game and pass game.”

Nevis was a third-round pick by Indianapolis in 2011. He played in 14 games with the Colts, three starts, and had 39 tackles, one sack and one pass breakup. The Colts released him at the end of camp this year, and the Chargers claimed him. He was inactive for two games with the Chargers and released.

At LSU, he had 139 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss and 11 sacks.

“He’s one of those guys that demonstrated a lot of ability to come off the ball, and explosiveness, when he was in college,” Garrett said. “Again, a guy that we liked coming out, we did a lot of work on, and you follow these guys’ careers.”

I see Garrett has been reading my posts.
I like how it actually sounds like Garrett knows what he is talking about when it comes to the player. Not like he is just regurgitating what the scouts told him or just making shit up as he goes but instead like he is actually familiar with the player. Hopefully it works out and if not the player was free.

I like the guys we bring in on the D-line. Look at Selvie, a talent young D-lineman who fell in the draft and just never really caught on in the NFL. Nevis is a young 24 your old DT who was a perfect fit for this defense coming out of college but instead got caught up in a different style of defense. I know some would prefer a proven player be brought in but I think Marinelli works best with these young and hungry players who have a chip on their shoulders.

Archer: Cowboys believe scheme helps Drake Nevis

Cowboys believe scheme helps Drake Nevis

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

IRVING, Texas – For a couple of weeks Drake Nevis was a member of the San Diego Chargers. He’s been with the Dallas Cowboys since Tuesday.

The Chargers play a 3-4 and Nevis played nose tackle. The Cowboys play a 4-3 and Nevis will play defensive tackle, so he has had to unlearn some things.

“Different style, but it’s something I’ve been a part of,” Nevis said. “It’s just a matter of repetition and getting it back.”

He played the 4-3 at LSU and as a rookie with the Indianapolis Colts, but has been out of position for a little bit.

“He’s one of those guys that demonstrated a lot of ability to come off the ball and explosiveness when he was in college,” coach Jason Garrett said. “Oftentimes these defensive linemen get into systems that really suit them or maybe don’t suit them quite as much. We feel like playing in this scheme we can get him back to playing the way he played in college, coming off the ball, playing with good leverage and being a destructive force, both in the run game and pass game.”

At 310 pounds Nevis gives the Cowboys a more traditional one-technique to play behindNick Hayden. How long will it take for Nevis to be ready?

“Prayerfully as quick as possible,” Nevis said. “Just a matter of getting back used to the weather and just go from there.”
