Jerry Jones once again explains why he’s the Cowboys GM

September 20, 2013 by Paul Jackiewicz 1 Comment

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones did an interview with ESPN today and once again broke down why he has his hands in so many of his teams affairs while many owners take a hands off approach.

Jones was asked why he doesn’t split delegate his responsibilities.

“For years when I first got involved….the discipline that I came from said…the owner was on the floor where the product was being built or where it’s being sold then he was really paying attention to things. It’s just a question of communication. It implies though that that same person, I’m not going to talk in third party, that I may call the decisions which has never been the case, ever. I respect so much our coaches input, our input from our scouting department, our input from our….from every constituence that we have,” said Jones.

Jones also went on that say that he’s replaced six head coaches as the owner of the Cowboys and that he’s never had to replace a general manager and that keeps some of the continuity.

What Jones fails to realize is that as much as he might love the continuity of himself as the Cowboys general manager, it’s produced zero Super Bowl titles.

And sadly this is what's keeping him from being the best owner in the NFL.

Pride is a bitch.

Why does he bother trying to explain it? He's doing it because he wants to do it, not for any reason. Since the word "reason" implies rationality: he has a motivation, not a reason.

He says that like it's a positive.

That 'continuity' that he's boasting about has brought about nothing but mediocre results.

As a successful businessman you'd think that Jerry would appreciate what fresh ideas can bring to a company. You see it all the time in the business world and in sports. A leader's message is no longer getting across or his methods have become stagnant so they bring in new personnel who have fresh ideas.

The truth is that motherfucker has such thin skin that he always jumps into defending the "idea" that he makes all the calls....which he does, and he's not fooling anyone with half a brain.

Whatever. Suzie gives me a boner.

Exactly. Why would anyone want to continue something that hasn't worked in 18 years?

I believe I perfectly summed up the situation in one of the other threads when I called him the Great Dragon and so forth.

What's even more offensive is that he's admitted a few times that he would've fired a GM who had a record as poor as his. And yet, he won't fire himself. So, clearly, failing is only punished when it happens to other people, but he's perfectly content with himself when he fails.

Really? He listens to coaches and scouts. He changes coaches and scouts. Yet things still remain the sane. I know I'm preaching to the choir here but there are still fans that buy into that shat. There are still idiots out there that believe him. It just drives me crazy even thinking about. I only have one more person in my family to bring to the light and he is close (he's an Aggie) I think I will post that video on his page.

"Listening" to the scouts and coaches just isn't good enough.

He's got to get an insightful personnel guru in here who can guide the scouts and coaches, something he's incapable of doing.

10 years from now we'll be reading the same fuckin articles.
Yep and making the same frustrated comments. I don't even bother with it because Jones is status quo and that's that.
