The Giants are hurting on their OL big time now. Baas may not make it, so they were going to move Boothe from LG to C and shift Diehl over to LG so Justin Pugh could start.

Now Diehl has had thumb surgery and is out for the next six weeks.
I guess you could say the Giants got a raw Diehl

Giants' Stevie Brown sprains knee

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- For the second straight preseason game, a New York Giants starter has gone down with an injury.

Safety Stevie Brown fell to the turf untouched during an interception return off Jets quarterback Geno Smith in the first quarter. He immediately clutched his left knee. Unable to put any weight on his left leg, Brown needed help to get to the sideline and locker room. The team announced Brown has a knee sprain and he did not return.

"I have no more further information," Tom Coughlin said. "I feel bad for Stevie. He has been a tremendous addition to our team. The guy has another interception and then has that happen."

The Giants were already playing the Jets without starting safety Antrel Rolle, who is recovering from a sprained ankle. Rolle is expected to be ready for the season opener.

Jayron Hosley, the team's third-round draft choice in 2012, also left with a sprained ankle. Hosley is one of the Giants' second-string corners, along with Aaron Ross, and plays in some nickel and dime packages. He was also the team's primary punt returner in Saturday's game.

The Giants would like to be able to get to the opener against Dallas without any more injuries. In their second preseason game against the Colts, center David Baas and wide receiver Victor Cruz both suffered injuries on the opening drive. Baas suffered a left MCL injury that is being considered week to week and could potentially keep the starting center out past the opener.

Cruz suffered a bruised heel but is hopeful that he will be ready to play Dallas. The team also lost offensive lineman David Diehl last week to thumb surgery.

Brown led the Giants in interceptions last season with eight and also had 307 return yards off the picks. Brown's breakthrough season led to the Giants signing the restricted free agent to a one-year deal to return as a starter.

If Brown has to miss time, Ryan Mundy is the next man up if Rolle is healthy. He started the game against the Jets alongside Brown. Will Hill, who will serve a four-game suspension for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, came in against the Jets to fill in for Brown.

"Hopefully, it's not too serious," Mundy said about Brown. "I was running over to celebrate and congratulate him (on the interception) and he just stayed down, so I said stay down, stay down. It didn't look too good. He didn't pop up but I have no (further) information."

NFL Network's Albert Breer reports the Giants "fear" FS Stevie Brown tore his ACL.

Brown went down on a non-contact play in Saturday night's dress rehearsal, and non-contact knee injuries typically never end well. He's undergoing an MRI on Sunday. Coach Tom Coughlin will address the media later this afternoon. Veteran Ryan Mundy will likely be asked to fill Brown's shoes. Losing Brown would be a huge blow to an already highly suspect Giants defense.

This seemed like a good idea at the time.

The Giants have issues at safety...Brown is done, Rolle has been out for several weeks with an ankle. Will Hill will be suspended for the first four games. Our vaunted 2TE offense should feast on them...wait...

According to Ravi, that makes him a bust and the Cardinals probably wish they didn't draft him.

If we could just run a 3 TE set we might be able to take advantage of the Giants secondary injuries.

Saints DE Will Smith done for the season with a knee injury.

I saw the injury when it happened and it actually didn't look that bad. During the broadcast they even said he was able to put weight on the leg and that it didn't appear to be a severe injury.

Yeah, he was walking into the locker room too.

Supposedly the 49ers are shopping Parys Harrelson...if I were the Saints, I'd make a move for him. They have nothing at OLB.

As much as I'd like to see the Cowboys sign Ronnell Lewis just for the laughs, he'd be a better fit as a 3-4 OLB. He's a dipshit, but so is Ryan.

Andre Brown suffered a fractured left leg in the Giants' preseason finale Thursday night.

It's the same leg Brown fractured last season. It's a significant blow to the Giants' backfield depth, as the team will now likely be forced to keep rookie Michael Cox and kickoff return-type Da'Rel Scott as the backups to David Wilson. Wilson's fantasy value soars in the process, however. He's now likely to open the season as a true-every down back with no threat for passing-down or goal-line work. The Giants may strongly consider making Brown their injured reserve/designated for return player. But at the very least he's going to miss a huge chunk of the season.

I wanted them at full strength :unsure
