Kyle Orton moves on from bad game

IRVING, Texas -- Cowboys backup quarterback Kyle Orton understands it's just one preseason game.
His two interceptions in the 12-7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals last Saturday were unacceptable, but, in the big picture, the veteran is going to be fine.
"It's been going good, I felt like I've done some good things this camp," Orton said Monday. "So obviously you don't want to go out there and turn the ball over a couple of times, especially the way the game started off. As a veteran, I have to go out there and take care of the football and go through my reads."
In three preseason games, Orton has completed 12-of-17 passes for 113 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. The lone touchdown came at Oakland, a wonderful throw to Cole Beasley.
But the Arizona game, where the Cowboys committed six turnovers, is where some fans and media members started to question Orton's game. He completed 4-of-8 passes for 36 yards with no touchdowns and the two interceptions in nine offensive snaps. Alex Tanney, competing for a possible No. 3 spot, picked up the game's only touchdown, a five-yard score to Gavin Escobar, but his interception late in the fourth quarter sealed the victory for the Cardinals.
The Cowboys' offensive coaches have said Orton has been very productive in training camp and that his status as the No. 2 QB isn't in question.
"Whenever you don't play well, you're disappointed," Orton said. "Like I said, I've done a lot of good things this camp, but I have to put it behind me and go out and play well next week."
