It's a monopoly because they have no competition and they lobby congress to keep competition to minimum by not allowing price negotiation and outlawing Canadian drugs, the same drugs usually.

Something tells me you don't really understand what a monopoly is or how it's created. A monopoly isn't created by "disallowing" price negotiation. A monopoly is created when some type of a barrier prevents competitors from entering the market. Which is the "regulation" I'm talking about. You mention one with regards to the Canadian drugs. That's an artificial barrier that government has created to prevent competition for the drug company. Another is by creating FDA regulations that are so stringent that a company with a safe product couldn't enter the market for at least 5 years to compete against another drug company. When you eliminate the possibility of competitors you create a monopoly. In the case of the drug industry that is done through regulation. Prices come down when a competitor is able to hit the market for obvious reason.

I know full well what a monopoly and never said disallowing price negotiation was the monopoly, I said that's why prices are so high.
