There's a lot of lessons to be learned in this game. This isn't one of them. They put up 31 points despite playing against 11 packers and 4 refs. The problem is the defense, but much more specifically the defensive line. They got no pressure except when they brought defensive backs. Irving was a no-show. We have got to get some help on the defensive line. The secondary is fine. They played as well as you can given how long they had to cover for. We have got to get a consistent pass rush. Otherwise we're gonna be in these shootouts and they end up being 50/50 propositions.
I wasn't talking about the team, I was talking about our QB. But thanks for pointing out the obvious.

We had very bad offensive strategy throughout the game.

One drive we went for 20 yards on 3rd and 2. We kicked a field goal.

Another drive we had 1st and 10 at the 15 and never ran the ball. And had Dunbar in the game. We kicked a field goal.

Then there was the spike.

We lost this game on offense as much as defense.
I agree with you about needing to run the ball more in the red zone. That was mystifying. Still, I can't agree that it's on the offense as much as the defense. The defense let them score 21 on their first three drives. They allowed a 35 yard pass on 3 and 20. It's just a killer...

I think a lot of that had to do with the lack of talent on defense. He really hasn't had much talent since he started coaching in Dallas. I think he has done well for what he has. Give him a defense loaded with talent and I bet it's a different story.
Talent will definitely help but blitzing at the lowest rate in the NFL also makes it difficult to get pressure. I guess if your going to blitz at such a low rate you sure as shit better have a studly Dline. Still it would be nice to out scheme people once in awhile on defense. Instead we just try to out effort them.

Don't be butthurt. I just don't agree with you that Dak's long ball is a big problem. A ball control offense has got to be supported by a solid defense. We didn't get that today.

And Dak does have a lot of work to do. Hopefully, his deep ball gets better. Too many of his deep were almost picked off.
I wonder if Romo completes that 1st quarter pass to Dez that was deflected. I wonder if Romo gets a TD on the three end zone passes at the end of the 2nd quarter.

I feel like Romo would've lobbed that in there enabling our WRs to jump and catch them. Dak's lasers in there were deflected instead.

But again, Romo handing off to Zeke adds another 0.5 run stopper since there's no QB keeper threat.

By us splitting hairs here, though, means we've achieved the reasonably best-case scenario.

I agree with this. You have to be able to pressure the QB without going into high risk coverages (bringing in secondary to blitz). We didnt really have that this year but not much you can do with that in season.

I never said it was a big problem. I said that as. QB, Dak needs to improve his deep ball. It's part of getting better as a player. I'm not disputing anything about the defense. They shit the bed. I already know that as well as everyone else on this board.

Pdom and I were discussing QB play and I commented on how Dak can improve as a QB. I wasn't blaming him in any way for today's loss nor am I butt hurt over it.

Why? So we can get beat a week earlier?[/QUOTE

I'd rather not have the false hope with the #1 seed and wait anxiously to see them shit the bed again. I'd much rather them do it right off the bat instead of being tortured for a week with their "Bye" win.

To all of y'all that are saying this season was just house money etc..

It is very hard to get HFA and we got it, and squandered it.

This was a wasted opportunity, not some beacon for the future.
Exactly. We had it all set up for us and we choked. It's that simple. Not really different than 07.

In 07 Romo was young, MBIII was young, Witten was young, ware was young, canty was young, spears was young, etc. Was that some sort of spring board? No? OH.

A full off season as the man should really help him. Hopefully Dak and Dez can build on the chemistry they showed today.

I think Romo absolutely lobs the ball up and gives Dez a chance to make a play. I even said earlier in the thread that if they were going to pass three straight times in that situation, they should be lobbing it up for Dez instead of trying to laser it in to Witten.

Dak is different then Romo and this team is built better for the long haul then that team was. I love how Dak being a rookie is why you didn't want him to play. But now that he won't be a rookie the arrow somehow isn't pointing up?

Man...how the fuck did Rodgers not fumble that Heath blindside sack?

There'd be 20 seconds left on the clock and we're in FG position. Fuck.

Heath didn't go for the strip as well.

I wish we had one or two other defensive players who plays as balls out as he had today and it likely would have been a different outcome.

They played better together today than I remember them playing the whole season. I hope it carries over to next year and we don't have our usual letdown next year.

Zero QBs have ever won their first Super Bowl in their 14th season. Four 2nd-year QBs have (Wilson, Roethlisberger, Warner, Brady).

Therefore, Romo's out.

Zero QBs named Dakota have ever won the Superbowl. In other words, that's a useless stat. Manning won it in like his 25th or whatever...

I don't necessarily see Dak being any better than Romo but the O-line is in better shape. That 07 line wasn't exactly a line full of spring chickens. They began declining the following year. I don't see this line declining any time soon.

You're right. Is there a 2nd year QB named Troy Staubach available?
