Must be one of those times where we can rip Romo a new ass, but nobody else can.
It like the Irish always say of the the Brits: "the English are our enemies, but their OUR enemies."

Everyone (including me) agrees Steve Young is a total badass HOFer. The truth is he had great stats but until he was part of the best team in the league, he was an also-ran to Aikman. Despite the fact that Young is light years better than Aikman. Hell, if you take the 1994 playoff game we lost, Young's numbers weren't that great. Aikman outplayed him for much of the game but the mistakes doomed the Cowboys. Does Young get an asterisk? No.

If Romo wins the big one, people will STFU. Hell, Eli Manning has got to be the luckiest MFer to ever win a SB. His SB run was chock full of bad decisions that just didn't bite his team for god knows what reason. But he'll be a SBer. Romo is a better QB than Manning. He is. However, he's never had the support nor the luck that Manning had. So he will dwell in mediocrity unless the team somehow breaks through.

Yeah...I'm not sure that Young is light years better than Aikman on any level.
You are out of your mind. Young was the better QB. Aikman never made many mistakes and was a great leader but he was not the player young was. Young was one of my favorite players ever. At QB he was the toughest guy on the field.

If its the "light years better" you're disagreeing with then that's true. Aikman and Young were the two best QBs of the 90s and so they were close as far as skill, leadership, intellegence etc., but Young had that extra hard nosed something that Aikman never even sniffed.

I'd take Aikman over Young for a Championship-ready team.

I'd take Young over Aikman if I need a guy to carry a bad team.

And that doesn't mean I think Aikman was a product of good teams or that Young was better. But Young had that improv skill to make shit from nothing, Aikman was far deadlier -- but when everything around him was working.

Different strokes.

Romo has played poor himself in too many win or go home scenarios. That's on him.

But as to not earning a dollar he's been given? Stupid.
If Romo had Emmitt, Irvin, Harper, Troy's OL, and the 90's defenses the team would outscore the opposition by multiple TD's every time. Romo is a better scorer and passer than Aikman, though Troy was physically tougher and stronger.

Yeah, I'm sure Aikman says that to console himself as he polishes all the SB rings in his cabinet.

So those three SB's were all due to Aikman and nothing to do with probably the deepest, most talented teams to ever play in this league? Come on man. You're smarter than that.

Im sure Eli Manning is sitting somewhere polishing his 2 rings and telling himself over and over that he's better than Romo and Griffin. People believe what they want to, but there is only one truth.

Aikman wasn't asked to pass a lot, like Young was. I'm sure if he was, he could have put up gaudy numbers, too. There were a lot of games where he was only asked to throw the ball 20 times. Or less. It was nothing to see a line from Aikman that read 11-17 1 TD 160 yds. Did Young have a single game he threw it less than 20 times, barring injury? Doubtful. Could Young have played in the same system Aikman did without becoming a problem? I'm not so sure. They both were the best at what they were asked to do, but I bet Aikman would be better in Young's system than vice versa.

And that truth is very simple...Eli, for all the dorkiness , still raised his game to another level in the playoffs and SB's he won. Yeah, he got lucky and had some obscenely ridiculous breaks go his way, but he still played very good games in those SB's.

Aikman was the same way- you knew that SOB was going to come out on fire in the big games. Young didn't win a SB until the Niners front office stole Norton and signed a bunch of All Stars to knock Dallas off the perch.

Their numbers are very very comparable....but in a big game, I'd take Aikman every time.

I still don't think the 49ers win if Jerry's ego didn't shove Jimmy out the door.

People say they were both at fault, and that's true, but Jerry moreso. Jimmy was the important one, and Jerry should have realized it and placated him to keep him around.
