Went to practice today and I got say, George Selvie is impressing the hell out of me. Forget his play in games, he goes all out on every drill and every snap. He looks like someone who just wants to be there unlike POS' like Toby Jackson. He's a UCFer, but he's clearly out of his league. He looks slow, plodding around in drills and just doesn't deserve to be there.

Orlando Scandrick tossed from practice after pushing an official

Cornerback Orlando Scandrick pushed an official during Sunday’s practice, earning an ejection.
“It was frustration,” Scandrick said. “He was in my way. It was frustration. …I was pursuing the ball. He tried to brace me. I kind of like pushed him out of my way.”

Cowboys defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin said he didn’t see the play and would have to watch it on film to comment. But Scandrick, a six-year veteran, said he doesn’t need anyone to talk to him: He understands what he did was wrong.

“It can’t happen,” Scandrick said. “Nobody needs to address it. I know what happens in this league, and what can’t happen, and I can’t touch the official.”

Scandrick was chastised by teammates Will Allen and Jason Hatcher before walking to the sideline, where he knelt by himself with a towel covering his head.

Cowboys defense loses Lissemore, Frampton and Sims to injuries in Sunday's practice

Already missing starters Jay Ratliff (hamstring), Morris Claiborne (knee) and Anthony Spencer (knee), backup safety J.J. Wilcox was absent Sunday to attend to a personal matter. Then, defensive lineman Sean Lissemore (groin) went out, followed by defensive back Eric Frampton (hamstring) and linebacker Ernie Sims (groin).
Cowboys defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin lost count of all his injured players.

“That’s not good. That’s not good,” Kiffin repeated. “That’s not good at all. We’re short of people anyway. We had guys hurt before practice.”

Cornerback Orlando Scandrick pushed an official during practice and didn’t return, and cornerback Sterling Moore briefly left after being kicked in the knee.

“It was a rough one today,” Moore said.

Offensive linemen Demetress Bell (conditioning) and Jermey Parnell (hamstring) returned to individual drills. Receiver Terrance Williams returned to full practice Sunday after missing a week with a concussion.

Camp observations: Defense with three takeaways

August, 12, 2013

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

OXNARD, Calif. – The Cowboys began their final week in California with a spirited practice that saw the defense come away with three takeaways.

On to the observations:

** Tony Romo was intercepted three times in team and seven-on-seven drills. His first pick came on a deep throw to WR Dez Bryant that Barry Church was able to play center-field on, but DE George Selvie would have had a sack before the pass. The second came off a deflection off of Jason Witten’s hands into Sean Lee’s arms in seven-on-seven. The third came on a forced red-zone throw that deflected off CB Brandon Carr to LB Bruce Carter.

**DT Jason Hatcher had one of his best practices. In the team compete period, he had a sack of Romo. In situational work he had what looked to be two tackles for loss in three on RB Lance Dunbar. He also had a pressure that led to Carter’s takeaway.

** On the day Romo went 14 of 19. He ended the situational work with a touchdown to Witten and had the offense in position for a game-winning field goal, but Dan Bailey’s attempt hit the left upright from 52 yards.

** TE James Hanna had a productive day with one nice grab on tight end screen that got him in the open field. He also made a terrific back-shoulder catch of a Romo throw after beating CB Brandon Carr at the line.

** Most of the time practice field fights aren’t real fights with players breaking things up before punches get thrown. That wasn’t the case Sunday when RB Phillip Tanner and LB Tank Reed exchanged blows after a dust-up in one-on-one pass rush drills. Reed lost his helmet before the scuffle, which left him at a serious disadvantage. The animosity didn’t last long with the players slapping five after the drill ended.

** Backup QB Kyle Orton was sharp, completing 12 of 15 passes. He had two touchdown passes to WR Anthony Armstrong, who continues his push to make the roster. On the first, he found Armstrong with a back-shoulder throw that allowed the receiver to make an adjustment behind CB Micah Pellerin. The second was a bullet throw in zone coverage that Armstrong ate up.

** Offside penalties have been an issue in the two preseason games. They were Sunday too. Landon Cohen, who has jumped offside in both preseason games, Ben Bass and Kyle Wilber all had offside penalties Sunday. Cohen and Bass were pulled after their infractions.

** Practicing for the first time since Aug. 2, WR Terrance Williams had a good day, beatingXavier Brewer on a deep ball in one-on-one work. He also showed he wasn’t afraid to go across the middle, catch
