Not for me. This two TE madness is over the top.
Agreed, I'm pissed off enough that we took Escobar in the 2nd as is, Eifert in the 1st would've sent me over the edge. Obviously if you're saying would you rather have Eifert/Frederick or Frederick/Escobar you'd go with Eifert because he's better than Escobar but hindsight is 20/20 and I know for a fact that I would've broken something if we went Eifert at 18.

Assuming we would've taken Frederick in the 2nd (if he had even been there) and then Wilcox in the 3rd since I'll just assume one of the 3 teams who took WR's between our Williams/Wilcox picks would have taken Williams this is the true comparison:

Eifert/Frederick/Wilcox or Frederick/Escobar/Williams/Wilcox

Basically you're downgrading from Eifert to Escobar and banking on Williams to make up the difference, which I'm willing to gamble on.

And this is assuming Frederick is even there at 47 which isn't 100%, if you gave me the choice to trade Frederick for Eifert straight up right now I wouldn't even consider it.

Weird...this board was screaming that we might take Eifert...now he would have been a legit first pick.
You won't hear me say that. I didn't want a TE at all at that pick.

It's only weird if your trying to be a douchebag. I wouldn't have cared for the Eifert pick and I don't care for the Escobar pick either, and both scenarios end up woth Frederick and a TE, so both scenarios are equal on the basis of why I was objecting. But if we come out of the first two rounds with Frederick and a TE either way, I'd rather that TE be Eifert.

Though that's true.... Taking Eifert also means no Williams. So I guess in hindsight I wouldn't make that swap.

You have no idea if Frederick would have still been there, and you also have to include Williams in the discussion. I'll take those three over just Eifert and MAYBE Frederick.

I did not want a TE at all, but color me impressed with how Escobar stretched that 2 yard gain into a 3 yarder.

I don't see where anyone is getting where Escobar has looked good. He looked horrible in the first game he played.

I don't think he looked bad, but he did not make a difference one way or another.

His blocking was horrendous.

Were you really watching his blocking closely? Not trying to be a dick but that is probably one of the last things I was paying attention to on a play by play basis.

Also from all reports on Williams, I would have rather had Williams/Frederick/Wilcox over Eiffert/Frederick/Wilcox. Third WR in this offense will get a hell of a lot more balls and Austin will be gone from this team before Witten is.

So basically I'm saying staying put and taking a TE would have been a massively bigger F-Up.

Sounds like veteran guard Brian Waters is still very much on the #Cowboys radar... They like him. We'll see what he decides to do

W2W4: Cowboys training camp: Day 13

August, 7, 2013

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

OXNARD, Calif. -- The Cowboys have their final practice of the week before traveling to Oakland to face the Raiders on Friday night.

Here's what to expect:

It's a full-contact practice: In recent days we've heard about the Pittsburgh Steelershaving a full-scale tackle practice in training camp. The Cowboys aren't having that, however, they will go in full pads again on Wednesday. While the players are not allowed to tackle, sometimes a few hard hits bring players to the ground. Tuesday was a good example, with the players taking a few clean shots, resulting in a few bodies hitting the deck.

More roster changes?: The Cowboys have concerns about the offensive line and there's a chance the team could sign veteran guard Brandon Moore, who played for the New York Jets last season. As it stands, the Cowboys have five offensive linemen hurt, so filling a interior line spot could be beneficial. If the team signs anyone, that person can practice Wednesday, but its doubtful if he'll play in Friday night's game at Oakland.

Game prep for Oakland: Coach Jason Garrett said he will game plan for the Oakland game on Tuesday. Now this is the Raiders' first preseason game, so the only current looks the Cowboys' coaches have is from last season. Expect the Cowboys to run some game-like situations for their players, particularly the veterans who will play in the game like Tony Romo and DeMarcus Ware, among others.

No Terrance Williams again?: Every player from the 2013 draft class participated in the preseason opener with the exception of wide receiver Terrance Williams. He suffered a concussion two days before the first preseason game and must past the concussion guideline tests in order to play again. He's doubtful for the Raiders game and most likely will make his debut Aug. 17 at Arizona. Oft-injured safety Matt Johnson (foot) is also doubtful for the game with his injury. He had limited snaps against the Dolphins.

I'm listening to the Fan and Mike Fisher says we're interested in Waters, let's hope so.

I'd take that as a fallback.

With the alternative being a combination of David Arkin and Mackenzie Bernadeau they had damned well better have Waters on their radar.

Ernie Sims talked about the fight. 'We're animals in the wild out here.'
