OXNARD, Calif. -- The Cowboys lost another lineman Tuesday as coach Jason Garrett confirmed DE Cameron Sheffield will be lost for a few weeks with a groin injury.
"It's probably at least a couple of weeks," Garrett said. "He was practicing well, but we've just got to see how it is ... how it progresses."
Garrett said the team will bring in some defensive linemen Tuesday for a workout because he's concerned about the lack of depth at the position. The Cowboys have lost five defensive linemen during camp and have signed two.
According to multiple sources, the Cowboys have expressed interest in defensive end Toby Jackson, who missed the 2012 season at Central Florida because of academic issues. Jackson was eligible for the NFL's supplemental draft but wasn't selected. In 2011, Jackson had 14 tackles, three tackles for loss and one blocked punt in nine starts.
The Cowboys also have interest in defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, who played with the Chicago Bears last season.
