The only bad tweets I have seen about Smith is when is has been going against Ware.
That is literally the least of my worries. Ware makes lots of guys look foolish and the speculation so far in camp has been he's better than ever (which is not out of the question for a healthy 30 year old, this could be the absolute peak of his already amazing career, right now -- I would not have bet on it coming off that injury and with a scheme change, but I wasn't guaranteeing against it either).

To think...the last two years Dez had to be coddled and watched...now, he might be one of the bigger team leaders...and eventually could be THE leader on offense.

I am not worried about Smith at all. I'd like him to do better for sure, but he is a guy I know is a good player.

Ware getting multiple sacks against any O-lineman during a practice should be a serious concern. I'd like to at least read once in awhile that he is hanging with him.

The guy I haven't read that much bad stuff about so far surprisingly has been Free. Of course you have to also keep in mind who he is going up against. It isn't like he has Spencer out there fighting him.
Think you need to re-read.

Yeah, I completely agree with your premise here...BUT the results have not followed. Part of it is talent
Most of it is talent.

The OL being in shambles has hamstrung what Garrett has tried to do and made it nearly impossible to run the ball. He's not a good enough coach to adapt to being forced out of his comfort zone, but that is the case with most coaches, and he needs to be evaluated not when the OL is stocked with 5 All Pros but when it is at least average.

The question is, how long do you give him?
I would have given him till last year if we were bringing in Andy Reid.

If we'd be bringing in Lovie Smith, I'll give Garrett indefinitely. At the very least until I've seen him fail with a competent OL, without which a guy like Lovie Smith would also fail.

Dez Bryant's growth extends to his interviews. He strikes a balance between extremely confident and humble.

I agree that cutting Free or someone like him would send the right message: perform or GTFO.

I can't say that it is Jerry stopping that from happening though.
I'm not saying that Garrett wants to do it but is being held back.

But there is no chance whatsoever that Jerry would allow it even if Garrett did want to.

Witten liked how Romo knew he’d adjust a route under Sean Lee, who had dropped deep. ‘We have great chemistry. It’s at an all-time high.’

Injury report: Jermey Parnell misses practice

July, 23, 2013

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

OXNARD, Calif. -- The Cowboys have another player out because of a hamstring.

*Backup tackle Jermey Parnell missed Tuesday's first full-padded practice with a hamstring injury. Parnell said he's going to undergo a MRI. The Cowboys have four players nursing hamstring injuries less than a week into training camp.

*Wide receiver Danny Coale (knee), tight end James Hanna (hamstring), guards Ronald Leary (calf), Nate Livings (foot), Mackenzy Bernadeau (hamstring) and Demetress Bell(conditioning test), deep snapper LP Ladouceur (calf), defensive lineman Ike Igbinosun (lower leg), defensive tackle Jay Ratliff (hamstring), wide receiver Lavasier Tuinei (conditioning test) and defensive end Tyrone Crawford (torn Achilles) missed practice.

*Center/guard Ryan Cook returned to practice on Tuesday in a limited basis after passing the conditioning test. Livings has passed the test but wouldn't reveal when he's expected to return.

There were some positive signs from several players, Livings, Leary and Bernadeau especially, who ran sprints during the afternoon practice, meaning the start of their practice time could be coming soon.

Cowboys could sign a "camp body" in the DL but don't look for a big name

With a string of injuries in the defensive line, the Cowboys do need a camp body to help get them through practice. Two of their top three defensive ends are out, with Tyrone Crawford (Achilles) lost for the year and Anthony Spencer (knee) requiring surgery, and they are without staring defensive tackle Jay Ratliff (hamstring).
Defensive tackle Ikponmwosa Igbinosun was wearing a walking boot at practice Tuesday.

The Cowboys had backup defensive tackle Ben Bass line up with the first-team at end in Spencer’s place Tuesday.

Cowboys officials are looking at all their options in the defensive line, where they are down to 10 healthy players. They could add a defensive linemen in the next couple of days but don't expect that signing to be a big name.

“We’ve got a lot of options,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday. “We really do relative to what we’ve got. But we’re evaluating what is there, because of our numbers. We’ve got to watch practicing [with so few linemen]. That would be more the incentive to get somebody in here to practice than it would be to think we’re bringing somebody in to help us.”

We're like the only team who doesn't WANT to get better.

Injuries on the DL? We just need a camp body. Don't bother looking for someone good.

I'm so depressed. This is the first year I truly have no hope, not even a molecule of it.

I'm with you Bob, this isn't going to end well. Jerry will think firing Garrett is the key, but the real issue is him.
