Iowa State is a fairly good team. They aren't in the upper tier but they are solid enough to stay in a game if the opponent does not play their best. Texas wasn't mentally ready for Saturday and the Cyclones were.
I know Iowa State pretty well. We do play them every year afterall and Iowa State gives us a hard time as a rival (I'm a Hawkeye fan). However we aren't just talking about being beat by Iowa State. We are talking about being totally shut out. A previously 2-5 Iowa State team didn't let you score a single point. It's not like Texas doesn't have any talent. Hell they have far more talent then that same Iowa State team. They have someone who I thought was a far better head coach too. Yet they went in there and got shut out in Ames, Iowa.

Yep. I watched the entire game and State simply dismantled the Texas offense buy smothering the quarterback. Texas places virtually all their offense on the quarterback and his ability to clear the LOS.

Exactly. They literally do not have a QB. It is pretty dumb.

Virginia Tech has Bud Foster as their coach in waiting and with USC doing what their doing, they should retain Helton. We'll see if they do, though.
USC is not going to stay with Helton IMO. Pat Haden is as big of a problem as anything...he thinks he is cleaning things up, but just comes off as an angry old man who wants to say "back in my day".

Kyle Whittingham will be at the top of their list...they have to be kicking themselves knowing they could have had Peterson when they hired Sark.

Pat Haden is lucky to still have a job. Pretty much all of his coach hirings at USC have been busts.

Sarkisian's meltdown really makes him look bad. Word is, Sarkisian's alcohol problems were well known while he was at Washington. Haden just didn't do his homework.

Can we seriously just stop with the black slang? It's getting really old.

It's been assumed Foster would be next VT coach, but VT hired a new AD a little over a year ago and it's not necessarily a done deal now.

His buyout is something like $2M if he isn't made the next HC. I'm guessing they at least give him a shot.

The top names being thrown out around here are Kirby Smart, Rich Rodriquez, Justin Fuente (Memphis). Foster is in the equation but most think the AD wants to get his own guy and new blood in there.

I'm watching the 2014 Alabama vs LSU game...damn the level of athlete and size is so different than what I am used to seeing. Mostly on defense.

First Playoff Ranking came out...~snicker~

1. Clemson
2. LSU
3. Ohio State
4. Alabama

with Notre Dame and Baylor at 5 and 6 on the bubble.

Pretty perfect ranking to come out after more SEC hate in the thread.

It is what it always is with the SEC. Ultimately no matter what one SEC team will make the playoffs. These early rankings are always a joke. Look at last year. They had 2 SEC teams in the top four as well. Neither of which made the playoffs or proved to be very good teams. Right now it is as much an Alabama bias as anything.

If LSU wins this weekend, you won't have to worry about Alabama the rest of the year. If Bama wins, I can see LSU only dropping to 4 and both make it in.
