I'm sure Wilson and Garrett can coach him up
The OL's run-blocking improved over the bye, no doubt about it.If we block like we did against the Giants I'm not sure it really matters which RB it is. McFadden had a very good game. I don't want to take it away from him but he also had great holes to run through. The first time this year that our run blocking resembled what it did last year. Hopefully Collins was a big part of that and it continues.
Mallet is a legit talent. But he really needs a Parcells like coach to set his ass straight. The reason Houston cut him was because he pouted after losing his job and basically started showing up late and missing things. That's just unacceptable but if anyone can get his head on straight he is a legit NFL pocket passer in my opinion. Hell he outplayed Hoyer when he was on the field.Ryan Mallett released. I'd cut Weeden for him like yesterday.
O'Brien is considered a hard ass and he couldn't get through to him. I don't think the coach is the problem. Sounds like he's just a turd.Mallet is a legit talent. It's not even about coaching him up. We need to have Hardy at his door at 8 am bringing him to practice every day. Lord know he won't want to mess with that scary f*ck.I'm sure Wilson and Garrett can coach him up
O'Brien was supposedly a QB guru too but he has mishandled that QB situation horribly. Naming one starter then naming the other the starter. Then when Mallet gets knocked out for a play or two in the game he just makes Hoyer the new starter. O'Brien has screwed the pooch on that whole situation horribly. I think he was caught between his dislike for Mallet but knowing Mallet gave them the better chance to win. So every chance he got he was looking for a way to bench Mallet.O'Brien is considered a hard ass and he couldn't get through to him. I don't think the coach is the problem. There were less people to block since the backers were dropping back. This is the first game since Romo went down that the defenders had to contend with a down field passing threat. If we block like we did against the Giants I'm not sure it really matters which RB it is. Mallet has thrown less than 200 passes as a pro. His percentage is in the mid 50 % range. He can't be considered a big time threat.Mallet is a legit talent. Collins played a game earlier where we didn't run for shit. Sure, I'd rather he continues to start, but having SOME semblance of a passing attack was a huge help to the running game. It's absolutely no coincidence that it was Collins first game back starting. Dude is a beast.
Yeah, the extended passing game was without a doubt a big part of it, but Collins is heads and shoulders better at run blocking than Leary.Collins played a game earlier where we didn't run for shit. Basically, I hope Weeden falls and breaks both his arms so we aren't tempted to play him again.
The fact that he is a flake and missed practice when he did not get the starting job and then missed the team flight this last week?I can't think of a good reason not to.
The running game was working from the 1st snap, we did not throw anything down field until the 3rd series. There were less people to block since the backers were dropping back. This is the first game since Romo went down that the defenders had to contend with a down field passing threat.
The threat was there with Cassell in the lineup and Collins helped. The running game was working from the 1st snap, we did not throw anything down field until the 3rd series.
I doubt they had to wait until the first pass was thrown to realize it wasn't Weeden they were playing against. The running game was working from the 1st snap, we did not throw anything down field until the 3rd series.
Yep.I doubt they had to wait until the first pass was thrown to realize it wasn't Weeden they were playing against.
Yea but since when is Cassel thought of as some great vertical passing threat?I doubt they had to wait until the first pass was thrown to realize it wasn't Weeden they were playing against.
Except we wouldn't be counting on him for anything so if he pulled that crap with us we can just cut him.The fact that he is a flake and missed practice when he did not get the starting job and then missed the team flight this last week?
Nobody has said Cassel is thought of as some great vertical passing threat. That's just you, doing what you do. Making shit up.Yea but since when is Cassel thought of as some great vertical passing threat?
I highly doubt the Giants were scared into playing differently because Cassel was at QB.
Teams were selling out on the run at the end of last year and the beginning this year even when we had Romo.
