Yeah, I'm not big on first round RBs at all. Just not enough production comparatively speaking with RBs from other rounds and the shelf life is too short. But if Michael has a few 100 yard games down the stretch, RB will become an after thought next season. Especially since they have Randle as a backup under contract for another year.

If we are talking about offseason, what I'd really want is probably a QB or WR in the first couple rounds. I like some of the QBs, can't say I know much about the WR class this year. Looks kind of weak at the top from first glance.
If we're just talking about the 1st round right now I'd be ok with a guy like Doctson or Corey Coleman if we are picking in the 20's, the position does look weak overall though. The DL class in general looks strong in the 1st and I'd be completely fine with going DL again, I also expect a LB like Ragland or Jack to be strong considerations there as well.

Unless Michael looks like a guy who can handle 15-20 carries a game I can guarantee you that we will be in the market for a RB, and if not in free agency, it will be high in the draft, perhaps even in the 1st with a guy like Elliott or Henry, which I know you'll hate.

Next year is the last on Randle's deal, the team clearly doesn't trust him, McFadden isn't long for this team and that leaves us with Michael and Dunbar coming off an ACL. Unless Michael just goes ape shit I can almost guarantee you that we will either sign a guy or draft one early on, I'm just taking an early look at potential options.
There is no way Henry is a 1st round RB, he is a straight line RB who has ok speed and is bigger than everybody.

I would go Cook over Henry and I think he is borderline 1st.

I don't know how deep this draft is but I think RB's will not go as early this year.

Raglands looks like the real deal but where do you play him?

At SLB and transition him to the middle if Mclain flakes out?

Or make him the mike and just move on?.

I would probably just draft him and let things play out.

Cook is a true sophomore so he isn't eligible, although I think he's better than Henry. One could easily argue that we should sign a stopgap like Morris, maybe take a guy in the 4th or 5th and wait it out since there are so many studs possibly coming out in 2017 with Cook, Fournette and Chubb.

As for Ragland, we all know our LB corps is a ticking time bomb so we just let it play out, McClain will lose his shit, Lee will get injured or both.

The way this team is built, I'd have no hesitation taking a RB in the first round. This team has a very small window...if we got 4-5 good years out of a RB I would be very happy.
If I'm getting Fournette or someone of that caliber I agree. But most first round RBs aren't much different then the second/third/fourth round RBs.

McClain is only on a one year deal as it is if I'm not mistaken. There is no guarantee someone like that will be resigned anyway. I have hopes that Wilson will eventually be able to take over a starting spot though.

Change opinion about what?
--------------------------
Murray didn't have to carry the team. The offense was balanced. I think we agree on that.
Murray absolutely was key to everything...the run game was anyways. Took pressure off Romo, kept the defense fresh, and shortened games. We were 2nd in the NFL in rushing attempts and led the league in TOP. The emphasis on the run keyed a real run in the playoffs.
Where was everyone last season when I was saying that?
So last year during the season you felt he was the key, but this year he did not have to carry the team. Unless I am missing something it sure seems like you are changing your opinion.

What I banteted about Murray last year was he was having an exceptional season that exceeded all prior running backs at Dallas before him while some were saying his success was because of the OL. I don't know that I ever touched on whether he was the primary source or the key for the team's success. Best memory serves me my comments were always about his performance was exceptional not simply just because the OL was outstanding.

Some would have you believe that all you need is a chump running behind "this offensive line" and you'll be fine.

But make no mistake Romo made Murray's production possible.

When the defense would crowd the LOS and double-team Dez, Romo consistently found the open guy and backed the safeties off to open the run game again.

The notoriety the OL and Murray gained kind of overshadowed the tough job Romo did in converting 3rd downs, often under duress.

That conversion on 3rd and 20 at Seattle stands out in particular.

We have to win at least 2 of the next 4. This week vs the Giants is basically a must win. We can't afford to lose 4 straight or have to rely on beating the Seahawks/Eagles. Seattle is down but still a quality team and Philly is starting to get things straightened out not to mention it'll be tough to sweep them. As bad as the Giants have looked, they will be at home and also have their backs against the wall.

Going 2-2 the next 4 will be tough unless Cassel proves to be competent and we find some semblance of a running game. Even if we'd stayed healthy I thought our running game would prove to be our downfall in the post season. But if something doesn't change the post season will just be a pipe dream. The Saints loss is looming large.

Yeah that's shaping up to be a great RB class I think I sign a stop gap and target that class.

I'd sign Miller over Morris.

Morris is more of a fit for what everyone on here wants though, which is a pounder.
2012: 335 att 1613 yds 13 tds 4.8 ypc
2013: 276 att 1275 yds 7 tds 4.6 ypc
2014: 265 att 1074 yds 8 tds 4.1 ypc

I'm not liking the trend of his production.

Yeah I'd be very very wary of Morris. I love Miller.

But I'd love drafting a guy even more.

Nice.

You watch Alfred play, and he has clearly lost something. Those numbers back it up.

And his 3.5 ypc this season isn't very promising either. I'm not particularly big on either back. The problem in the NFL is that once a back gets those 4 seasons under his belt, he is usually on the way down in his career.

Matt Forte might have more in the tank if they don't run him into the ground this year. He's on pace for 330 carries 1300 yards and he's a 3 down player.
