I get the QB story, because that's too big a move to hide. But why announce the part about who's starting at LG and RB?

I really think these moves are Jerry-driven. Or at least Steve-driven.
Collins getting a start is a good story...UDFA, who many thought would be a top 10 pick...that is interesting.

RB is kind of a glamour spot, so I get the attention there too.

In one of those August camp reports, they basically told Collins supporters to "curb their enthusiasm" because there was no real competition at LG. how could Leary regress so badly in two months?

Injuries would be my guess. He has been battling injuries all camp and season long for the most part. I wonder if he is really healthy at all.

But you'd think after the eighth straight 3 and out that a light bulb would come on and the coach would consider different personnel, scheme adjustments, etc.

It felt like Garrett was sitting in a boat that was sinking and instead of grabbing a bucket and trying to bail water from the boat he just sat there, did nothing, and went down with the boat.

That rationale doesn't make any sense to me.
I totally get it. Garrett had poo running down his leg and no answer.

IRVING -- Jason Garrett revealed Wednesday that Christine Michael will be getting more opportunities to run the football going forward.

Since the Cowboys traded for Michael early last month, the former Texas A&M standout has been active for two games, carrying only twice for five yards.

Cowboys running backs coach Gary Brown said Thursday that Michael, a second-round pick by Seattle in 2013, has earned the opportunity to have a bigger role.

"He can do more things," Brown said. "I think the thing is he had to learn it. He had to feel comfortable with it. I think he's where he needs to be. We're going to take the reins off and let him rock."

Joseph Randle has been the team's starter through the first five games, carrying 74 times for 289 yards and four touchdowns. Darren McFadden has been the team's No. 2, totaling 129 yards and one touchdown on 37 carries.

But the Cowboys have struggled to duplicate their 2014 success running the ball, averaging only 106.2 yards per game, which ranks 19th in the NFL.

"I think he's just a complement to those guys," Brown said of Michael. "I think he brings a different style. He's more of a scat back, twitchy guy, with power, so I think he brings a little bit different style to the table and I think we need to take advantage of that."

Typical Cowboys, waiting til during the season to try and address a problem everyone knew about in the offseason, yet was neglected.

It makes you wonder if they just kind of stumbled on the idea of what made their offense dominant last year. That that was the one situation where "sticking with the plan" didn't bite us in the ass, because we lucked into a power rushing offensive identity.
