I don't really see how that made a difference. They had one TO left when they took over the ball, and when we got the sack, they didn't use it then. They didn't use their TO until they were down in FG range. If every thing was the same and they didn't have the TO, they would have just spiked the ball and kicked the FG then. After the long gain they tried a long pass which was incomplete. Then kicked the FG.

The difference is that Brady was sacked on first down for a loss of 8...so if they spike it there it is 3rd and 18 with 0 TOs.

That's not what I said. I said spike the ball after the long gain, before the FG. There was 15 seconds left on the clock after the long gain, plenty of time to get on the ball and spike it. After the sack, the let time go as they lined up to run another play.
