He seems to have matured a little, but I still don't think he's capable of being elite to the point where he can just take a team on his back.
Isn't that what he just did? Running game wasn't working, down by two scores. Star WR out of the game. Constantly changing protections and telling people where to be. And winning the game in nearly flawless fashion.

Who seriously does this without serious help from supporting cast, coaching, and poor competition?

New England went 11-5 without Brady and the Colts dropped in Luck and didn't miss a beat without Payton.

Here's six reasons why the QB's of these teams "carry" them: Jets, Jags, Titans, Bills, Texans, Dolphins.

Luck also got to play in the hapless AFC south. His stats against good teams were pretty pedestrian.

Can't help but think how much quicker he may have evolved if they kept him a decent enough OL throughout his career.

He was asked to do a lot and took the blame when it fell apart...he owned it and earned it IMO, but I admit that he is finally looking like one of the prime QBs in the league right now.

I wonder how much Wade Wilson played into his turnaround.
I noticed that Wade Wilson wasn't even mentioned in the story. Seems like Romo had to do all of that reinventing on his own. Otherwise you'd expect to see something about Wilson's input into the process.

He never is mentioned. That is why he is one of the most unimportant QB coaches in the league.

Also, he was Romo's QB coach long before Romo started improving his game, so it's not like he was doing anything to help back then.

Exactly.

That is why I laugh at anyone who suggests Wade Wilson is doing anything more than collecting a pay check for being nothing more than a Jerry Jones lifer and primary dick pill provider.

The guy has been a QB coach in Dallas for eleven years and has had ZERO to do with any sort of player development.

That has to be some sort of record.

I think Garrett likes him because JG is a control freak and doesn't want the QB coach near the actual QB. Wilson goes off and has a circle jerk with the backup and scout team QBs and leaves Romo alone.

I have been there, venting frustration at him. And it was all justified. But all along, he has always been in need of saving from himself.

He seems to have matured a little, but I still don't think he's capable of being elite to the point where he can just take a team on his back.

I think what we see now is what he needs to be. He's not going to carry a team and shouldn't be asked to because it is not fair. Should be interesting to see how he comes through the next few weeks without Dez Bryant.
And in all fairness, neither Troy nor Roger had to carry the team either. Each had their own OLine and
feature back to take pressure off.
