Well, so I went to the game last night. And even though we were 2-1 passing to rushing plays (45-22), there were signs of life
in the run game. It was mostly Randle, but there were flashes of excitement and Randle didn't get Romo killed. Also, most of the time we had very manageable 3rd down situations to convert. It looks different, and I do miss Murray, but this will work I believe, especially once we involve the new guy Michael.

I think the numbers are a bit skewed. A lot of those short passes are like pitchouts just to get the runner in space. But, obviously count as a pass on the stat sheet.

Agreed. Dunbar with 8 receptions and no carries. But the shit was working, like a champ on the final drive.

It's about what we expected, and I feel the ratio of runs to passes would have been more acceptable had the team not screwed the pooch with turnovers.

We still lack a guy who gets to the second level of blocking, hence the committee, and indicative of the lack of talent was the refusal to run in short yardage.

Too often Randle looks flat-out weak as a runner, though I was impressed by his efforts in the passing game both as a blocker and a receiver. He just doesn't break tackles. He plays much smaller. McFadden is very hit or miss, and needs a few signature plays to get him going, IMO.

Lance Dunbar seriously improved his pass-blocking, and was excellent on that last drive. He consistently cost us yardage on kickoff returns.

We need to see Christine Michael yesterday. Don't know how they find a way to activate five backs, but I think he could be exactly what we need, especially in short yardage.

Yeah its pretty hilarious, no one ever questions Green Bay doing it and being "out of balance" but god help us if Tony isn't balanced.

I'll take Dunbar leaving everyone in afterburner dust over being able to say we rushed for 200 yards. Dunbar pretty much singlehandedly moved the ball down the field last night to give Dallas a chance. NY didn't have a clue how to stop him.

Heaven help us should Dunbar shed his loser tag.

We did the most important thing, which was dominate the time of possession. 9 out of 10 times we would dominate if we held to that game plan. Screwy turnovers gave away 17 points and nixed what would have likely been scoring drives.

We only punted like twice. Our offense was playing well outside of the turnovers.

Yep. Once we got behind you do whatever works.

Last year's identity was to pound Demarco Murray up the ass of the defense.

This is a different team. Run the ball, but also throw to the backs by design. I've been begging for them to do this for years. I say do it until they stop it.

I also believe Williams and Escobar are poised to take the next step, and they'll get their chances over the next few weeks for sure.

Golden opportunities for all the rest of the receivers. Street included, even after his monumental fuckup. Beasley redeemed himself nicely.

I'm not sure theres anyone out there can stop the little passes to Dunbar or McFadden. They both impressed me with the speed they have. No LB is going to run with either of those guys.

The run/pass balance is misleading, since we used a lot of short passes in lieu of the running game, and we passed on 12 straight plays on the last two drives due to the game situation. McFadden looked impressive in his limited action and should be getting more snaps than Randle.

We'll see what happens once teams break down the film on us, but I'm inclined to agree someone will be open, if the backs are covered then the TE's are more open, etc.

The OL is giving Romo too much time for defenses to rush four and still be able to cover everybody.

With Witten able to pass block, run block, and catch the ball all so well it makes it very hard to figure out what the Cowboys will do. I think it would be smart to get James Hanna more involved as a receiver because then there will be no tells for the running game at all.

My only fear is that without Dez teams will load up the box. It means guys like Street and Williams better make plays on the outside.

We are definitely going to miss Dez, but I am optimistic about how we moved without Dez in the 2nd half. Witten, Beasley, and Dunbar certainly gave me some confidence.

Right now the offense is missing its top gear, but it can still cruise. Having an amazing offensive line and QB is enough to make us a serious threat, as long as we stay patient.

I really hope Christine comes in and injects some powerful running into the equation. The one thing that really sucks about our current offensive identity is it's more of a "take what's offered." kind of offense and not a "get the fuck out of my way, it's time for a touchdown!" offense. Some north-south chugging, especially in the red zone, is exactly what the doctor ordered.

I hope Collins can make a difference in the run blocking schemes. The OL just wasn't very effective for that part of their of the game.

Where exactly did McFadden look more impressive than Randle? Was it his one nice reception? Randle looked pretty good himself catching the ball. Or was it his 2.7 yd rushing avg that did it? Randle certainly didn't set the world on fire, but I'm not really sure how anybody would come to the conclusion that McFadden earned more snaps than Randle.
