Revisionist history at it's best, yes you did give Sumlin a little credit as a coach you also inclined that Kingsbury was the key to the offense which he was not as show in how they have not missed a beat.

And my remark was not actually aimed at you but Iamtdg and I think ace who were mot giving Sumlin any credit and was claiming Kingsbury was running the offense at Houston when it was Holgerson.
BTW, the aTm offense did drop off a bunch but that has more the do with Manziel and having young QBs that aren't Manziel. Let's focus on how fair and amazing of an individual I am to not deducting points from Sumlin based on that.

Anyhoo, Sumlin did not install the air raid at aTm. Sumlin is a really good coach. I like Sumlin a lot. Kliff Kingsbury I'm sure learned a ton from him about how to do it. He tried to translate some of that to Tech, which failed because the timing was wrong to have a loose program in LBK. Two different circumstances totally. You have Manziel exploding on the scene, changing conferences and all sorts of happy stuff going on. In LBK you have a different deal going on.

This football deal has a lot to do with timing. In a much bigger way than we think about, I think.

This from a Tech fan, how rich.

Why does Tech just suck since Kingsbury was the chosen one.:lol
Well duh! You must not read this thread. That defense has sucked for 1000 years. That's not the point. I was poking fun at you because you defended your wonderful coach's honor. So lets please discuss the aTm's defense and Sumlins role there. I think it is a really good topic. You go first.

Just because Kingsbury installed the offense doesn't mean he couldn't be replaced by another OC who could run it fairly well. Spavital was the QB coach for Holgorsen at WVU, so there's his connection to the system.

My coaching career is a joke. You missed the point entirely.
No I didn't, I'm just informing you that it was the one good thing to come out of that entire ordeal and will be a running gag on the board.

Sooo you're saying that dropping mad knowledge wasn't a positive outcome? I thought it was pretty damn good on my part.

Big 12 supports prohibiting transfers for violence issues

Big 12 Conference athletic directors are unanimously backing a proposal that would prohibit schools from accepting transfers who were disciplined for violent acts at their previous schools.

In a text to The Associated Press, Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said Tuesday that conference ADs meeting in New Orleans "supported a policy draft similar to that of the (Southeastern Conference)." Bowlsby said the draft would still need to be refined and submitted to a joint council of faculty athletic representatives and athletic directors for approval.

The SEC earlier this year passed a rule preventing schools from accepting transfers who have been dismissed from another team for "serious misconduct," defined as sexual assault, domestic violence or other forms of sexual violence. The rule applies to university or athletics department discipline and does not take into account whether a legal case has been made or pending.

SEC officials were prompted to act after Alabama accepted transfer defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor, who was dismissed by Georgia last year after he was arrested for domestic violence. Taylor was arrested again for domestic violence earlier this year, and then dismissed by Alabama. The accuser in that case later recanted and the case was dropped.

Just in the past week, Baylor coach Art Briles has come under scrutiny for allowing a player who was convicted of sexual assault last week to transfer to the school in 2013 after he was dismissed from Boise State for disciplinary issues.

Sam Ukwuachu, who played defensive end for Boise State as a freshman in 2012 and transferred to Baylor after being dismissed from the Broncos, was sentenced last week to six months in jail and 10 years of probation for assaulting a Baylor women's soccer player. At his trial, his former girlfriend at Boise State testified he hit and choked her.

Ukwuachu, 22, was never charged or arrested for assaulting his girlfriend at Boise State. It is unclear if Broncos coaches knew about those allegations. Boise State did not at the time specify why Ukwuachu was dismissed.

Briles said he spoke with then-Boise State coach Chris Petersen, now with Washington, about Ukwuachu's troubles but was never told specifically about acts of violence toward women. Petersen last week said he "thoroughly apprised Coach Briles of the circumstances surrounding Sam's disciplinary record and dismissal."

On Tuesday in Seattle, Petersen declined to expand on that statement.

"I really appreciate that question because I think it's an important one, but I don't have anything more to add than what my statement was," Petersen said. "

Later Tuesday, Boise State released a statement saying allegations by Ukwuachu's girlfriend that he assaulted her when they were students there were never reported to school officials.

"The incidents and factors that contributed to Sam Ukwuachu's dismissal from the Boise State football team had nothing to do with accusations of any sexual assaults or with accusations that he physically assaulted any women," Boise State said. "However, federal laws protecting privacy prohibit Boise State from releasing information about what did result in his dismissal from the Boise State University football team.

"Boise State University never received any reports nor had any knowledge of Sam Ukwuachu being involved in any accusations of sexual assault before or during his time at Boise State."

Ukwuachu never played for Baylor. He sat out the 2013 season as required by NCAA rules and then was suspended from the team in 2014 after being accused of sexual assault. University police investigated the allegations but declined to go forward with the case. Prosecutors in Waco, Texas, have been critical of the school's handling of the case.

Illinois fires Tim Beckman one week before season amid external review

Just one week before their season opener, the Illinois Fighting Illini have fired football coach Tim Beckman amid allegations of influencing medical decisions and pressuring players to play hurt, athletic director Mike Thomas announced Friday.

In a statement, Thomas said the dismissal was related to preliminary results of an external review into allegations, which also included efforts to avoid reporting players' injuries.

"The preliminary information external reviewers shared with me does not reflect our values or our commitment to the welfare of our student-athletes, and I've chosen to act accordingly," Thomas said. "During the review, we have asked people not to rush to judgment, but I now have enough information to make this decision in assessing the status and direction of the football program."

Thomas, who informed the team Friday of the decision to fire Beckman, said in the statement that there were instances in which players were treated inappropriately as to whether they could remain on scholarship during their senior year if they weren't on the team.

"Both of those findings are unsettling violations of University policy and practice and do not reflect the culture that we wish to create in athletic programs for our young people," Thomas said in the statement. "I expect my coaches to protect players and foster their success on and off the field."

He expects the findings of the review, which was conducted by the Franczek Radelet law firm, to be publicly released at some point during the season.

Bill Cubit, who was hired as offensive coordinator in 2013, will take over as the team's interim coach for the 2015 season, pending approval by the Board of Trustees.

Illinois opens the season next Friday against Kent State.

Just before Illinois announced Beckman's dismissal, his Twitter account made reference to the team's upcoming opener.

Beckman went 12-25 in three seasons at Illinois -- including 4-20 in Big Ten play -- and had two years remaining on his contract worth $3.1 million. Illinois said that Beckman would not receive that compensation, nor would he get $743,000 that he would have received had his contract been bought out.

That North Dakota State \ Montana game on Saturday might not have been DI, but it was a great game.
Yes it was.

TCU losing to Minnesota on Thursday would really set the tone for the year.

I'm excited to see how Michigan looks under Harbaugh in year one. They've been down way too long. I'm hoping for a swift turnaround like we saw with Stanford.

Who is going to start for them?
I don't know. But I'm looking forward to the resurrection of the pro-style QB at Michigan.

For as long as I can remember Michigan has had a productive pro-style QB but every since Henne departed the position has been a wasteland. That's been their biggest problem, IMO.

You'd think that installing the pro-style would take a year or two to really take off.

Just wondering if it was going to be Jake Ruddock. As an Iowa fan I got so tired of seeing him conservatively throw a 3 yard pass on third and 6. I am curious to see if Harbaugh can get something out of him. If he does it would be a strong sign that Iowa may just need to fire the coaching staff.

I would say not to worry but then I remember North Texas.
