Well, Jones won't be the first first-round CB to start his rookie year. Patmon White and Claiborne is enough competition for 3rd CB for me not to throw a fit. If the pass rush is good they'll come away with some picks.

It might not be ideal but plenty of first round corners are able to perform well as rookies. White, Patmon and Claiborne are still going to be great depth. By the way, this is by no means saying we are great at corner. Hell we weren't great at corner before the injury either. Dallas has great depth at corner but we lack any real high end starters. That hasn't changed at all with the injury. We still have great depth and lack the high end starters.

I don't think this defense needs high end starters as badly as it just needs guys who have decent ball skills and can play within the system. The defense is designed to give them a lot of help over the top.

If the run and pass defense improves to the extent everyone thinks they will, the corners will be okay. If they don't then the corners will look like they are chasing cats.

They have good depth and will be just fine at corner. Especially since the past rush looks like it will be a force.

Just to be clear, you guys who like the CB depth understand that one of guys slated to start right now is Morris Claiborne, right?
Yes because we have guys who I'd feel comfortable with starting and the coaching staff showed last year that they aren't afraid to start somebody else if they are outperforming Claiborne.

We have two guys who have played well in camp/preseason so far and a 1st round pick who has done fine by most accounts, what do you guys want in terms of depth at a position?

Do we have 3 Pro Bowl CB's? No, but we have several seemingly serviceable guys who deserve playing time.

This kind of fretting over 3rd and 4th CB's is what leads to over drafting of the position.
Preach.

People are sleeping on Patmon. He's beyond the "prove it" stage in my book. He's on the Devin Street level of promising low-drafted up and comer. I don't know how good he can be, but he's not gonna wash out. I'd bet on it.

It does kinda feel like the defense's heart was ripped out though.

Claiborne and Jones to the rescue, I hope .
And Patmon and White, too.

Unfortunately Scandrick was the one CB we had without appreciable flaws. Fast, plays every position, strong cover skills, and actually breaks on the football. Best of all he had graduated to being a team leader.

The key will be improvement of the pass rush and discipline of the safeties. If the corners can focus on doing their jobs they can play loose and pick the ball off.

Got to believe Hardy is a major improvement over Selvie, but missing the first four games is no small thing.

Crawford and Lawrence will have to step up and Gregory will be given a lot more opportunities early on. I expect nothing from Hayden and can't understand how it is no one can unseat this guy.
